Running a 36v battery on a 24v system might work, though first of all you need to check the controller internal capacitors to see that they can cope. 8s should work giving a bit more pep, all will depend on the capacitor voltage written on them.

I find the Magura HS33 hydraulic rim brake to be very good.

With KT LCD3 switched on press the up/down buttons simultaneously 4 - 5 secs, the display should flash. First option is odo speed so use the up/down buttons to toggle the speed to 25km/h. Quickly press on/off button to toggle through the other options of wheel size, metric/imperial readings...

Set the lcd to 25km/h and correct wheel size, then go for a ride with a GPS for a real world speed reading. If your LCD reading disagrees with GPS then adjust P1 values to get it to match as near a possible. If LCD under reads speed adjust P1 values up, if LCD over reads adjust P1 Values...

From what you say you need a bike with a full active throttle, most bikes are configured to pedal first to activate the throttle and some might be possible to configured to run a full throttle. So that mean's a hub bike or adding a kit to a bike using Kuenteng electronics,, £700 isn't going to...

The fuse blowing is likely down to incorrect voltage being applied, the bms on a 36v battery expects to see 42v for charging and not 54.6v of a 48v charger.

48V charger is no good to charge a 36v battery. XLR has multi pins, because they are /look the same doesn.t mean the pins are wired like wise. Most batteries have a fuse, do you get a battery voltage reading at all from the discharge pins

You need a meter to check polarity and voltage to try and diagnose issues.

Have a look at how many motor thick wires connect to the controller , 2 wires brushed motor & 3 wires brushless.

Have you tried C1 setting with value 05,06 or 07 ? And C11/0.

The bike milage isn't so important it's the battery age that is and at 3 years old it will at some stage start to loose capacity any time in to the future if not already. If you know he bought it at the final clearance price then that is it's base value for a valuation minus new battery cost...

Test the hall operation between Gnd & signal. If PAS is turned slowly then you see the V's fluctuate between 5 & about 1v for a working hall.

Don't get hung up n hydraulic because if you get bike with cable disc's you can easily upgrade for about £40 each and the front is the important one. Comfort and ride handling can be sorted if they are minor, handles bars/ reach are easily sorted with a more upright dutch style bar and longer...
