Close Pass: Cardiff drivers warned give cyclists more room

Didn't know they could afford them in Wales. The benefits level must be higher than I thought. :p .

Close Pass: Cardiff drivers warned give cyclists more room

Don't kid yourself, I've got a couple near me in Surrey where I have stop on my bike and lean into the hedge for a Range Rover or similar to squeeze past. I think some lanes like this exist in every part of Britain once one starts to explore, just old tracks that eventually got hard cored and...

Close Pass: Cardiff drivers warned give cyclists more room

Of course the gap has to be speed dependent, no argument there. My objection is to the cyclists who start screaming hysterically at a driver who passes with a 2 foot or even 3 foot gap at 30 mph. A little earlier I went out to collect an item and was driving in a line of traffic along Selsdon...

Latest on web site security: Leading websites, including the Daily Mail Online, Sky Sports, Argos and the University of Oxford have been publically shamed by Google. They have started marking all websites that don't use HTTPS. With version 68 of its Chrome browser, Google started warning...

Close Pass: Cardiff drivers warned give cyclists more room

I often get this on one long, narrow, twisty climb from the Weald to the top of the North Downs. It's a very popular route for race cyclists in training, some of them are professionals in this area, but the climb is a tough one and they are often very slow. I'm entirely happy to trickle along...

Close Pass: Cardiff drivers warned give cyclists more room

I think 5' is unrealistic though, one metre is plenty. If everyone stuck to 5' or more in London, few vehicles could ever pass. I'm happy with a foot or two. How about quid pro quo? London commuting cyclists routinely fly past slower moving vehicles on the nearside with only inches to spare...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

And not a first offence too. When he returned to politics previously he was required by the propective constituency party to give a solemn guarantee that he would not also work in the newspaper industry. He took the seat and shortly after breached the promise by returning to writing for the...

    Pulling a trailer under load......Flecc?

The second I reckon, not just rich in his own happiness but also making other lives the richer for it. The world needs people like him at least as much as it needs streams of university graduates. .

    Regenerative braking?

Unlikely in my experience. So long as the pads do some rubbing the discs stay clean. On the Leaf, even when driving mainly on motor braking, that's not precise so the brakes are still used to stop the car at the desired point so still get that regular light use. I have seen enough disc...

Norman Tebbitt would too! He was all for people getting on their bikes and looking for work. .

    Regenerative braking?

Not quite a lever. Mine has the following gizmos: ABS - Anti-lock Braking System. ESP - Electronic Stability Program. ICC - Intelligent Chassis Control. Whether any of it is any use on ice is yet to be discovered. .

    Cyclist kills bus passenger...

Whilst agreeing with your last line, these are not quite the same things. In fairness they do often refer to driver, motorcyclist, even pedestrian in such negative sentences. It's often just shorthand to express a few details compactly. Could be inaccurate of course, did anyone actually see...

    Regenerative braking?

I saw the Jaguar mention but didn't see any mention of Nissan. Still rubbish though, I've gone through all the claims and they are often false. They say pressing the brake pedal on all other cars operates the brakes, that only theirs uses regen for braking at first. Not true. Mine when the...

    HaHa it actually happened......Cheat !!!!!!

Other way round. Our EAPC law was in force from 1983, long before the EU thought of having one, in which they perversely named them EPACs. Both are wrong though. The UK allowed throttle only without pedalling, so EAPC (Electric Assist Pedal Cycles) was inaccurate. The EU require pedalling...

Well Boris Johnson does speak French with his educated English accents sometimes. That's surely enough to upset the French. .

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Some victory. :( We retain the border controls we've already got anyway but lose the ability to freely get trade deals elsewhere and have to abide by all EU social rules, which means the ECJ making judgements. That's called staying an EU member. .

    Brexit, for once some facts.

While I strongly disagree with him in some matters, Zac is an essentially a very decent man despite his huge wealth. It was daddy who made the money. Even now when Zac is back as an MP, his position is tenuous with only 45 majority in the election, thanks to sticking to his principles. I...

I posted it in humour, I don't think she sympathises with Johnson's views, or anyone's for that matter. She's just another long term unprincipled expediency politian like nearly all of them. Principles are too expensive in political life, bringing failure and often ridicule. It's mostly...
