    Regenerative braking?

With bikes low weight yes, but not with electric cars. Even in flat areas, if any braking is done, it must be an advantage to turn that into charge current rather than brake pad heat. Not only a range advantage but also a running costs reduction. .

    Regenerative braking?

I prefer thread development. Anything can be made better. :) .

    HaHa it actually happened......Cheat !!!!!!

The problem comes from us calling what we do cycling. It's not, that's only done by unpowered cyclists. We are e-biking or similar. In other words we need a different term for what we do to differentiate. .

A Question about Rats and Air Guns

Ditto. I use an entirely legal 12 lbs pressure .22 air rifle and it's despatched 168 grey squirrrels* to date. AKA Tree Rats. .

    Regenerative braking?

Another example of this was my tinny (yes, tinny, not tiny) little Chevvy Matiz with the 1 litre four. I only tried it once on the open road and it struggled above 60 mph, though if given a day or two would reach 95. But around town it was great fun, very nippy driving it foot down, freely...

    Regenerative braking?

Yes, some modern cars do indeed make it difficult to stress them. It's easiest with the smaller conventional ones. Driving unsociable hours as I've done can do the trick though. Every run to my brother's in Dorset for a number of years was done in just under two hours for the 140 miles. Less...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Ditto all counts. When I first ceased work I spent the first two years proving that one could live on the unemployment benefit of just £44.15 per week with the usual housing allowance and council tax support. It was a thoroughly enjoyable two years, certainly not hardship. Continental...

    Regenerative braking?

I had a lot of stuff in my garage with the Suzuki SX4 SZ5 which is 13 inches shorter than the new Leaf but the same width. The answer for me was to be ruthless in loading up for a visit to the council tip! But it seems you need a garden shed or tools cupboard. .

    Regenerative braking?

It's not quite as bad as that. I've yet to evaluate it with the same care I used in assessing the range, but it's already evident there is a usable difference. The best indicator of regen in cars is probably the Toyota Prius. Driven moderately it gives diesel mpg with a petrol engine...

    Regenerative braking?

That garage size was my worry, but it fits neatly and the sonars and cameras display on the screen allows absolute inch perfect precision in placing it just inside with space at the front to plug in. .

    Regenerative braking?

Esay answer Gubbins. Like all car makers they used the old way of measuring range (mpg in most cars) and it resulted in hopelessly optimistic range, just like the mpg. Under that old standard my Leaf should have up to 230 miles range, no chance. However the new standard now being used by all...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

The individual countries have the management of the economy, the EU can only give grants, it can't control the details of the spending. That's the difference. But the EU grants can and do make a huge difference, as West Wales is now realising. Recipients of a generous annual grant which...

    Regenerative braking?

Quite the opposite Marc, all been done many years ago on various makes and eventually abandoned by most. So I have to waste your time by telling you it doesn't work, at least not well enough to be of enough regenerating value to offset the additional drag of an always engaged motor. The...

    New kalkhoff integral..?..oh dear

Maybe it's a new way to sell the troublesome Kalkhoff Impulses. Sell another make with a deliberately set up fault, then exchange it with a Kalkhoff. ;) .

Segway electric skates face 'hoverboard ban'

Sorry, don't agree. I think our 1835 Highway Act was a far sighted and sensible law, banning all motorised vehicles unless specifically approved. That prevents anything dangerous being legally used before being thoroughly checked for safety. The problem isn't the law, it's the failings of...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Agreed, and that is what the EU is working towards. The EU could never have begun as a modern superstate of course, they have to develop over time, just as the USA did. Meanwhile there's problems which will gradually be dealt with. Rome wasn't built in a day, and the Treaty of Rome's...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Of course there would have to be two currencies but not by going back to their old currencies. Just a secondary currency introduced which could have different levels aginst the euro while enabling a return to the euro once alignment is achieved. As AK has said, all that's really necessary is...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

The alternative is the other option of a two speed EU, grouping the weaker nations separately with the richer majority helping them to gradually come up to speed. That will be easier with the two economic levels apart and the poorer nations not having to struggle stay afloat. .

    Brexit, for once some facts.

No they aren't, they are merely applying the rules that apply to all members and which we have previously fully agreed to. Ergo, the rules are in no way experimental, just well established ones that all the other members understand, as David Cameron found out when he tried to get a special deal...
