    AA renewal.

Maybe small things that can fail on the road which the AA can help with, a blown light bulb springs to mind as falling inside that price point. Perhaps a wiper blade. Personally I'd never be an AA member since I resent the way they so often back government proposals that are not in motorists...

    Taking e-Bike on plane

I had a 36 volt 10 Ah battery flown to me from China by DHL, with no declaration of any sort on the vestigial cardboard box it was in. The lack of protection was such that the case was seriously cracked at some point en route:

Watch out for us this weekend on the telly. And win a Wisper!

Well done David for having none of the petty offputting rules that many event organisers insist on. Letting people ride in ordinary street clothes with no helmets or hi-viz is the right way to go if it's to convince that cycling is just a good alternative to walking and driving for local...

    Taking e-Bike on plane

I'm sure once they twig that mobility scooters now sometimes have lithium batteries they'll get much tougher. Lithium batteries large enough for traction use are definitely out for transport on any passenger aircraft. I believe some courier freight aircraft will carry the batteries in special...

Tesla - another one catches fire

Fully agree. I had an experience of this which was probably very rare, when in 2009 I had occasion to have a few trips in today's latest electric trains. The unique aspect was that the last time I had ever been on a train was in the 1950s, steam locomotive and slam door carriages with leather...

Tesla - another one catches fire

There's a recorded sound sent though a speaker on e-cars and some have that tunable for volume and tone. On the Leaf it operates up to 19 mph and then cuts, returning when the speed drops to 13 mph. Many don't like the sound on offer. It's only at those low speeds since it's a warning for...

Tesla - another one catches fire

The newest e-cars are at the point where any noise is largely tyre/road noise and wind noise. The latest Leaf's bodywork and mirrors have been optimised for negligible wind noise and it's extremely quiet in all departments. Definitely much quieter than an earlier 7 series I've been in. .

    Brexit, for once some facts.

It doesn't have to add up. TM's promise is to reach that NHS funding level indicated by 2023. The next general election when she already knows she won't be PM is at the five year interval, 2022. In other words her promise is worthless since she cannot carry it through, even if she had the...

It would be one helluva board to allow 650 MPs to get a hand on it. o_O .

    Brexit, for once some facts.

I think they are becoming more confused than the voters were in the referendum. The combination of all the diverse aspects of Brexit and procedures necessary for departure from the EU leave everyone on both sides at times, depending on the aspect being considered. Perhaps we should program all...

Hardly surprising that we still have to pay them in England after all the subsudies we've been giving Northern Ireland and Scotland over the years. If you like we can stop those and get rid of our prescription charges. .

And cataract surgery if one wants to have excellent eyesight afterwards, something the NHS won't offer. Their decades out of date methods give under average eyesight at best and still the need for reading glasses. .

Tesla - another one catches fire

It's just Tesla who have to do that Tom, none of the others are having these problems. I'm currently awaiting a new Nissan Leaf, it's over three months waiting list, but I'm not in the least concerned. The Leaf in three versions now has been on the market for eight years now with over...

Can you software limit a bafang motor to 250w to make it road legal?

Quite the opposite, you're forgetting current. Nominally it has a 20 amp controller but in fact it can deliver nearly 30 amps. Two of us, the other being member Tiberius who is a scientist at one time advising on e-bike technical committees, have measured gross power at 1000 watts. A to B...

Good to see you still posting, and from a safe location. A news item a little while ago announced a man's body had been found in a Hull street, he'd been murdered.. I do get a bit concerned after seeing some of your postings. :( .
