    Biting the bullet!

A short update. A large hammer and a flat spanner got the pedal off. Decathlon does not have the removal tool... I broke the BB dust cover screwing it back in, LBS said "happens all the time, crappy Decathlon plastic..." Reconstructed using Loctite epoxy paste. First use what wonderful stuff...

    Biting the bullet!

I have the tool (I hope it is the right one). The BB looks pretty standard. In case of necessity I will swap it out.

    Biting the bullet!

    1. It doesn't attract unwanted attention 2. I don't have an extra 400€ for a new bike 3. The beauty of a kit means that when I do have the money I can swap it over

    Biting the bullet!

First road block, the effing pedal cranks (plastic to boot) require a special tool... Kit arrived,on time 72 hours, very well boxed, as noted in another thread it is a Mxus. So will go to Decathlon tomorrow. If that fails I will need a split PAS ring and some epoxy to glue the detector...

    Add-E - New bike kit

As John has indicated they have gone electric. The company was sold and bought several times, the last 2 strokes were made somewhere in eastern Europe. Of course the 2 stroke Solex is a champion of air polution, the simple engine designed in the early 1900's needs leaded petrol so as well as...

    Add-E - New bike kit

Back in the day it was the equivalent of a pedelec - no helmet, no number plate, very cheap insurance. They got moved into the moped class in the 90's IIRC.

    Biting the bullet!

I know they are expensive but having given them the go over they are very well built too - I have ordered lights from China but they never got here, "lost in the post"... I am still fit enough to use the bike without the motor around town. Think of the motor as a tool to get me from here to San...

    Biting the bullet!

Having waffled on for quite a bit on this forum I am finally in the stage of buying the kit! Photos and build details hopefully next week. Being a member of the working poor my budget is tight. I have spent slightly more than I can afford applying knowledge gained here on this forum and...

    Add-E - New bike kit

Austria is pretty soggy too (and lots of snow). Having used an original Vélosolex for quite a few years in soggy Nantes: yes you do have drive slip. But having said that when there is enough water for it to slip it only does so on bumpy sections of road and you don't want to be going fast in...

Throttle only in Europe - what legal & financial hurdles need to be overcome

You can have a throttle on a pedelec if it is the device which is used to get up to and run at walking pace i.e. 6 kph. On a s-pedelec, in the countries where s-pedelec does not = moped, the throttle can be used up to 20 kph and not beyond (at least in Germany, Austria and Switzerland). The...

Throttle only in Europe - what legal & financial hurdles need to be overcome

Can you pretend to pedal? If you can turn the pedals and have a thumb throttle mounted you could just wing it, negociating in the rare/unlikely case you have a run in with the law. In France you need an approved mirror, two braked wheels (front and back with independant levers - important...

Currency Market Fix fines banks £3.6billion

Banking is not an industry it is a service. Industries actually make stuff; for example the printing industry makes bank notes. I am really concerned that the English language has gone to the dogs losing much of it's sense. We all know who we have to thank for that...

    Bafang BPM 250w cropping up

My previous question about torque sensor compatible controlers was because I had seen the Xofo motors with integrated torque sensors: rear hub and mid drive.
