Bike Cameras. The Negatives and Positives of using them

My most serious (only???) bicycle accident happened when a tramp, who surprise! surprise! was drunk, stepped out from between two vans without looking. He went down and as my feet were strapped into the pedals (most of you are old enough to remember strap in pedals  ) I also went down, on...

Riding an electric cargo bike legally in the UK

"Tamper proof by end user" or words to that effect are used in the law. There are very few kits even the 250W ones which are EN 15194 compatible, Bionix springs to mind as one. Even factory made legal bikes can be tampered with to make them go faster. In France that puts you in the same ball...

Bike Cameras. The Negatives and Positives of using them

Camera mounted on helmet not good... yes I am looking at you Michael Schumacher! Body cameras, it seems to be a very English thing, I saw a guy on TV with front and back cameras in a fight with a van driver because of the cameras, my thought at the time was WTF? Kids have cameras on their bikes...

And the law says "must be audible at 50 metres". I doubt that is possible in rush hour Paris traffic though...:D

Riding an electric cargo bike legally in the UK

"Is a bell really neccesary on a bicycle"... Sorry couldn't resist. I have seen French policemen writing a ticket for a missing bell... OK the person had been pulled over for another reason but got stung for that. Front and rear reflectors. Orange side reflectors in the wheels (so white tyre...

Riding an electric cargo bike legally in the UK

Ok so they only do it on their bikes with mandatory type approval then? Saving several euro cents a bike (by leaving a plate off) will of course be big numbers when multiplied by tens of thousands of bikes sold. Tony

Riding an electric cargo bike legally in the UK

A very good page (in French) about how to get a registration certificate in France for a s-pedelec. Just above the serial number of the frame is indicated the location of the statutory plate on the EU type conformity document. So at least the German manufacturers seem to be doing the right...

    Changes in S pedelecs laws

Yep they have to be E 22-04 or E 22-05 or NF S 72.305 No bowl helmets have passed or can (ear protection) hence my keen interest in the Cratoni Vigor (250€ all the same...)

    Aldi Bike Stand

And a Parktools stand at +100€ does that? Sorry, not meaning to be disrespectful but pricing on "professional" workshop bikestands is such a load of (English expression on the tip of my tongue goes here). £25 is still too expensive for what it is but I say buy two, one for the front and one...

    Changes in S pedelecs laws

There is a huge youth movement to collecting and running old classic Mobylettes much the same as for Vespas. They of course wear illegal bowl type helmets with aviator goggles for the "coolness" and get away with it because most cops dig the coolnes factor too!

Dyson is a hero in France, maybe he is a freind of Ph. Starck? The spin here was energy saving yes but also children hurting themselves when playing with high powered vacuum cleaners (made in nasty China). Tony

    Changes in S pedelecs laws

Not in France.

    Changes in S pedelecs laws

A s-pedelec which is type approved in any EU country can be registered as a moped here in France. I have done a lot of thinking about them (s-pedelecs) and come to the conclusion that a pedelec is a much better option (for me) for the following reasons: 1. You can't pedal with a motorbike...

OXYDrive CST HT 36V 13Ah electric bike conversion kit

I read and read and read some more and... as I can still pedal up the hills that are on my route apparently a little bit of assistance is all I need to just take the edge off the effort required. My destination city is as flat as a pancake so the motor will be turned off there. On the way home...

OXYDrive CST HT 36V 13Ah electric bike conversion kit

I looked and looked and then looked again some. And found a front wheel kit at 479€ in Spain. Kits in France (the same ones) are at least 800€. I could jump through hoops and order from China but not having much money I want the protection of a European guarantee. For £650 I can have a...
