    Brexit, for once some facts.

Very true, people tend to full of praise for the NHS, defensively I suppose, but frankly it falls miles short of what a health care system should be like these days. France does much better and has done for a long time. .

Rides illegal machine - kills pedestrian & blames her........

They really are a menace, riding like lunatics. There's been many minor collisions with pedestrians, but they don't always stop. Of course the man tried for this death is an ex courier. Trouble is they are paid by the run and not well, so they have to get through plenty of runs to survive. .

David Couthard on an electric bike ........!

The Yamaha electric bikes and motors are a division of Yamaha Motors and under their own control. Yamaha Motors are the largest shareholder of their company. Toyota have connections to some other Japanese motor companies but I can't find any trace of a Toyota connection witn Yamaha Motors...

Rides illegal machine - kills pedestrian & blames her........

While in the EU there's little chance of this, but our departure, freeing us of EU rulings on pedelecs, could bring such measures much more easily. .

Rides illegal machine - kills pedestrian & blames her........

Depends on who one believes, the defence two speeds were 20 mph and 14 mph. The slowing was by using the pedals of the fixie, slowing the bike down, so of course braking of sorts was involved. That could also be done as we used to as kids, planting one's shoes flat onto the ground, but would...

David Couthard on an electric bike ........!

Their bicycle side is only in Japan, but they did team up with another company to make a Prius e-bike. Gear shifting is by thought! Information link. Their Lexus luxury division also released an over $10,000 normal bicycle. Information link. .

David Couthard on an electric bike ........!

There have been several cases of teams in F1 using e-bikes. Toyota when they had an F1 racing team supplied them for use in and around the paddock, I think in year 2008. They used the second generation Panasonic crank unit. Toyota are bicycle manufacturers of course. The following year they...

Help in identifying Electric Bike !

You shouldn't get into trouble for riding it. Occasionally the police have mistaken these as being proper mopeds being ridden unregistered. If then stopped, just politely point out the pedals and say it's a 250 watt e-bike that's treated as a bicycle, they know about those and will...

    How to change locks??

He has an e-rider, typical Chinese SLA e-bike, scooter style with pedals. No idea on details like locks, but I daresay it will be using scooter parts. .

Help in identifying Electric Bike !

Almost no e-bikes have ever had the legal plating mentioned in the EAPC regulations, it's probably the most widely ignored law of all, so don't worry on that point. In any case the details required on the plate have changed, so even the odd ones that were plated are now incorrect. And as for...

Help in identifying Electric Bike !

A number of these scooter style e-bikes of different makes were imported and sold as legal 250 watt machines. Since they do have working pedals the police have accepted that they are legal e-bikes on the rare occasions of anyone being stopped to check. In reality their rear hub motors are...

Rides illegal machine - kills pedestrian & blames her........

I fundamentally disagree with your reading of the regulations. The regulation has a header stating a bicycle can have one brake, and that precedes both the section 7 chain fixie and the section 8 pedals direct on the wheel case. It follows that both could have an instance of one brake, in the...

    Partical physics...

No, the photo below shows one chain link: It's basically a centre section plus two outer side plates. And one can have a half link to shorten or lengthen a chain by less, photo of one below: You can see the side plates are stepped so it's both a middle and outer section. There's no...

My simple solution was to settle on an always available well known maker and model of chain and buy two. Then add the extra bit needed from the second chain, keeping the rest of it. Future changes I buy the same chain type and do the same again, adding a bit from that spare chain. .

    Brexit, for once some facts.

My point was not to criticise but express a desire that the whole responsibility for control rest with parliament, and that they no longer abdicate their democratic responsibilities by thrusting individual decisions upon the public. The public had spoken once on a close co-operation with Europe...

Rides illegal machine - kills pedestrian & blames her........

Well we now have case law that says the fixie does not constitute a brake in law. Initially the defence said it did, the prosecution that it didn't. In such instances the judge checks the law and if necessary intervenes with a ruling. After examining the law the defence finally accepted the...
