    Brexit, for once some facts.

Unfortunately the Daily Mail has just won the "Newspaper of the Year" award. As weirdly inappropriate an award as any I've ever known. Link .

We made pretty good progress with that between 1950 and 1975. :( .

    Hobbyking Electric Bikes

But they have the same footnote on the 250 watt road bike. Maybe it's because its specified that it can be derestricted, but that seems over cautious. .

Odd that they say "sold only for use on private land", despite being UK road legal. .

Must have been the BBC's Truck Driver Day. I listened to the BBC Radio 4 lunch time news and their story on British drivers exploited by German cut-throat spiv companies Aldi and Lidl. It seems that where the drivers are unloaded by specialised store staff in our supermarkets, Aldi and Lidl...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

That's what I like to see, the Chinese solution. At one time their law was drive on the left, but that was later changed to drive on the right. In practice Chinese drivers drive in the middle, trying, not always successfully, to avoid colliding with each other. In a long and very detailed...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Although you haven't discussed it, it's worth observing that the House of Lords is far more democratic than is generally realised. Of some 800 members, only 100 are hereditary. The great majority are ex MPs and ex cabinet ministers who have been nominated into the Lords in recognition of their...

E-bike with motors greater than 250w, speeds above 15mph and the UK police

I don't think it mattered much though, since my 350 watt answer was in pedelec terms, the rider assumed to be adding their bit. More motor power would be needed if no rider input. .

E-bike with motors greater than 250w, speeds above 15mph and the UK police

In ideal conditions 500 watts, but in less than ideal conditions, headwinds etc if you didn't want to assist at all, you'd need the 750. You'll get best efficiency from the lower power combined with adding your own power as required, since you are adjusting the conditions to the optimum that way. .

E-bike with motors greater than 250w, speeds above 15mph and the UK police

So the 1500 watt is less efficient, not performing at its optimum, while the best matched-to-the-need 350 watt is performing at its optimum. We are talking electric motors here, and running them below optimum efficiency is very wasteful. The bigger the disparity, the greater the waste. They...

You've really got that wrong, the country wasn't involved in this city games institution. It was the London Olympics, organised by London, the only truly successful part of the UK which supports the rest. And we voted to remain in the EU because we do know what we are doing. .

E-bike with motors greater than 250w, speeds above 15mph and the UK police

It seems you are trying to prove a theoretical point, but why bother when it will never happen in practice? If you are serious about owning a powered bike, best to stick the real world situation. Here's a real world example giving the combined knowledge of the best European manufacturers and...

    Moke e-Bike - 250W, 500W or 1000W?

If it's restricted to a maximum of 15.5 mph motor assist, no, you could ride it as a pedelec. If it assisted at over 15.5 mph, you'll need to type approve it and register it as an L1e-B moped. That means number plate, insurance, suitable driving licence and compulsory helmet. .

Completely legal under pedelec rules (250 watts, 15.5 mph) since 6th April 2015, when the weight limits were removed and four wheels were allowed for the first time. The lucky French can have them with an up to 4 kw motor, ok for up to 45 kph (28 mph), under their light quadricycle law. No...

The near non-existence of cycling to school is exactly the same here, but a major reason is that very few parents allow their kids to have a bike due to London traffic. Since so many have never learnt to ride they don't ride in their teens, and with free public transport they don't need to...
