    Leaving the EU

I meant those attitudes are just hanging on. Decades ago they were mainstream and held by the majority, but I've watched them diminish and become the minority view that they are now. UKIP successes have proved transient, momentarily appearing in response to the odd event but them disappearing...

    Leaving the EU

Powell didn't even begin to be right. Any blood on our streets has been but a tiny trickle compared with what we've caused ourselves by our policies and actions overseas. Immigrants shouldn't be blamed for our political ineptitude and militaristic responses to problems. I didn't include...

    Leaving the EU

The UK is no stranger to home-grown privileged extremists of course. We had Enoch Powell and his "Rivers of Blood" speech almost fifty years ago, saying that would be the consequence of black immigration. And before WW2, there was Oswald Mosely, followed by many would be imitators in recent...

    Xiongda two speed whistle

d8veh found an issue of inadequate grease causing noise in his original purchase of the Xiongda, commencing in low gear only, so maybe that's at the root of the noise. On his Xiongda thread there's many posts referring to this grease problem, starting with this post. .

    How ridiculous are electric scooters?

Looks scary, but only a young Pisaura mirabilis Nursery Web Spider. Completely harmless, but clever little blighters. They play dead, crumpled up, to tempt any insect to get close to the "body" to investigate, or couple their front legs together to hide the fact they are eight legged spiders...

    How ridiculous are electric scooters?

One other issue with the moped style is that the police might very occasionally pull you over, thinking it an unregistered moped. One or two members have had one of these moped style machines, in particular member "Synthman" had a Ninja, made by Suzhou Rununion Motivity Co , photo below, which...

    How ridiculous are electric scooters?

The Chinese and other Orientals don't ride our style of pedelecs, just make and export them. They all ride e-bikes like the E-ped, very often with two or more people on board, but theirs are mostly around 700 watts rating and use lead acid batteries. Bikes like the E-ped are not really for...

    Leaving the EU

Since so many of those who objected to all the foreigners moving into London emigrated into EU countries (yes, really!), presumably the frustrated would-be Brexiters will do the same. .

I own a Nissan Leaf ev, and considering an electric bike

As it happens I've just got back from a Leaf Acenta test drive, enjoyable on this very sunny Spring afternoon. Enjoy your research into the e-bike you find suits best. .

I own a Nissan Leaf ev, and considering an electric bike

Thanks Bob, it looks very much like the old style Powabyke brush motor like that in the Euro model. Here's the bike I mean, click it to enlarge. Probably someone else will confirm. .

I own a Nissan Leaf ev, and considering an electric bike

It's impossible to tell from your tiny image Bob, tried copying and expanding but it has very few pixels. If you could load a larger image we'd have a chance. .

    Leaving the EU

I'm sure they'd stay either way. There's already the difficulty for them of us not using the euro, so any additional differences aren't likely to concern them. In any case, nothing will change for at least the first two years while we seek a departure agreement. .

I own a Nissan Leaf ev, and considering an electric bike

No, circa £20k list price gets the Leaf with the battery included. And in hunting around recently I had two quotes for a Leaf Visia including battery, brand new ex factory at £11,640. So no need to pay list prices. .

I never carry cash either, but do have a few banknotes at home for the rare occasion when I use a minicab. Our London buses no longer accept cash at all, only Oyster card or bank swipe card. Of course people not carrying cash is a huge disadvantage for charity collectors and will ultimately...

    Leaving the EU

All completely understandable though, even without ulterior motives The big gain for the banks is getting rid of cash handling, their most inconvenient, labour intensive, time wasting and costly function. The big gains for governance are the potential elimination of the black economy and the...

    Leaving the EU

I agree, Experian is a money making racket in itself, it's "service" to consumers almost amounting to blackmail. But of course that usage of these agencies doesn't account for why Norwegians are so in love with online banking, that's a mystery. .

    Leaving the EU

From the link in my post above, I couldn't help noticing the extraordinary adoption of online banking in Norway, far, far in advance of anywhere else in the world. From an already record breaking 75% in 2008, last year it was 90% of their population and will be up again this year. I wonder...
