    Testing Lithium 36v 10ah battery

I know Robert, that's the trouble with these moped style machines, they really aren't designed to be pedalled all the time. In China where they are very popular, they never pedal, just ride on the throttle all the time. Also, in China they usually have SLA batteries instead of lithium and...

Difficulties getting an e-car, Part 2

I hope that lasts, but I have my doubts. The Nissan Leaf uses a same technology slightly larger battery and that started out with a 10 year warranty indicated. But when the first ones hit the dealers that was reduced to 7 years and it's now just 5 years/60,000 miles after more experience. Of...

    Testing Lithium 36v 10ah battery

You posted funride, hence my link, but you have the fun2ride. Still my advice is the same, I see you got around 12 miles originally so 10 miles after some usage is quite possible. Although listed as 250 watts for legal reasons, those moped style ones are more usually far more than that, sold...

    Testing Lithium 36v 10ah battery

Looking at that bike, shown on this link, the in-frame lithium battery is obviously very small physically. That, plus this style of bike and you saying not much pedal assist from you makes me think that 10 miles is quite possibly right. .

    First Recorded Hoverboard Death.

Very sad news, and somehow all the worse on the approach to Christmas. It's difficult to know where these can be used safely, skateboard/BMX parks probably aren't really suitable since these don't stunt in quite the same controllable way. There's likely to be many more of them by the day after...

    Mystery creak solved :)

I've had the same at times, pressed steel seat clamps are rather rubbishy items, often barely adequate for the job. .

    Testing Lithium 36v 10ah battery

Riding until empty will help since it will show whether the battery performs as it should. Surely that's all you need? Alan has already told you how to check the current at a high discharge rate, you need to rig an appropriate load as he described. Obviously you need to know what you are...

Difficulties getting an e-car, Part 2

The Nissan Leaf battery start point is a bit cheaper to rent, £70 for 7500 miles per annum or £77 for 9000 miles. Both those and the Zoe's £89 are per month for the lease term of course. .

Difficulties getting an e-car, Part 2

It's 70% for the 5 years or 60,000 miles for the Nissan Leaf battery. Considering the range in adverse circumstances they admit can be as little as 60 miles when new, that 70% represents just 42 miles. Some insist it can be even less. So allowing for possible delays etc, at difficult times...

Difficulties getting an e-car, Part 2

Renault-Nissan are effectively the one company and their e-cars are fundamentally the same. The Leaf battery warranty is five years, but with both the battery rental terms are a maximum of four years. I read into this that they are confident about the battery range being adequate for four...

    L1e-A testing requirements

Thanks for all this Shemozzle, the L1e-A type approval situation really is a last minute shambles. I think COLEBI meant well with their amendments and it's good that they've included provision for the S class, but stating 250 watts and 1000 watts was not a good idea. At the very least it...

Difficulties getting an e-car, Part 2

This is the e-car killer, second hand there's the possibility of a new battery needed, costing several thousand pounds. Realistically a four year old e-car is worth absolutely nothing, a problem the trade has no answer to. Any e-car bought outright has to be a seven or more year purchase...

    L1e-A testing requirements

An new e-bike with an independent acting throttle will not be a pedelec in law in 2016, so is a motor vehicle. The DfT have said that they will still consider one to be an EAPC in the UK, so long as all other aspects match pedelec law. But their proviso is, since that conflicts with mandatory...

    Consideration For Other Road Users

I'm already a part of this of course, and I have a target to reach 92. Why? Because that will mean that for each year that I worked, I will have had a year of retirement. That's more than a pensions problem, it's a pensions nightmare! .

    Consideration For Other Road Users

Me too, and it annoys me even more when it's an e-bike which is so much more easy to get back up to speed. We've even had forum members posting their videos showing them dangerously doing this and similar. .

    Consideration For Other Road Users

    Covert Ops

The dealer Kudos and I in reply have referred to did that in past and has long appeared to have given up the practice. Since they learnt their lesson and have reformed, I've no wish to belatedly put the boot in by naming them. In any case I couldn't prove the accusation since posts can get...

    Consideration For Other Road Users

For your sake I very much hope so too. I've no idea of your age but you obviously have a very alert and capable mind. I have the impression that such a mind coupled with flexibility of thought militates against the incidence of dementia. At my age i've known a number of people who've suffered...

    Consideration For Other Road Users

Indeed, but I'm determined not to be one of those stubborn fools. They've caused some nasty accidents in my area. During my earlier 70s I kept checking my eyesight for range etc and when it was diminishing in 2012 I got both cataracts fixed. Perversely my eyesight is better now than when I...
