That's why I like more than one source from widely differing vewpoints. They're all biased and contain lies, but seeing all sides helps to see the truth that's somewhere between them. .

RT isn't all bad though, can sometimes be useful for balance. And of course there's Al Jazeera which is often worthwhile. Al Jazeera English HD is on Freeview HD channel 108 Al Jazeera English is also available on Sky Guide channel 514, Freesat channel 203, Freeview channel 83, Virgin Media...

Of course I noticed that Daniel, don't take that latest post of mine too seriously, I'm well known for such lighthearted humorous teasing! :) .

Difficulties getting an e-car, Part 2

I have followed this through anonymously for the Leicester dealer and found to my surprise the offer is genuine. Here's the details: New Leaf Visia Flex 5dr Auto £20,790 Metallic - Universal Silver £550 Additional options £0 Total RRP £21,340 ----------------------------------- Cash Offer...

Difficulties getting an e-car, Part 2

That I don't know, but it seems likely that there would either be restrictions on the standard benefits or a surcharge. The one bright spot is that in year one, Nissan give free pickups and return to home for anyone accidentally running out of juice. Obviously that's to offset range objections...

    Cycle Mirror

Seconded, Mirrycle generally agreed to be the best. The one you illustrated Lancslass is for drop handlebars and will be too large to fit into our usual bars which are smaller diameter. This one is the equivalent type for our handlebars, but as said, go for the Myrrycle. .

They're interesting, giving a slightly different angle as well as different reach and larger handgrip surface. .

    Filing Quick release Drop out

I always prefer to file the dropout width. If the curve at the top of the dropouts is retained, that will centre the normal wheel when it's replaced at any time and the normal wheelnut/clamp tightness should keep it in place. Adding a torque arm also is advisable when with the motor. .

Difficulties getting an e-car, Part 2

Yes as I said I think that's probably the case, but since the Zoe which is basically th same car has been sold as low as £10,000 without battery, I didn't totally rule out the £11,640 at first glance They definitely don't for me either, and on economic grounds I cannot justify the purchase...

    Bar Ends

The ready availability since then of handlebars that cover several positions has possible affected their sales too. Also dual brake levers for each brake on some bike models. I have used them, but only to protect the handlebar contents when I turn the bike over!

Difficulties getting an e-car, Part 2

Thanks Tillson, I knew of this for the internal cost, but no good in my case without a supply present. In any case this may all come to nothing. I did the price quote search anonymously and am deeply suspicious about those two very low £11640 quotes. Locally and in many other places they...

    Eyewear for Cyclists

I suffer from eye watering with wind, especially in cold weather, so even the side open specs style is no use since the wind eddies around the edges makes matters worse than no eye wear. The only ones that work really well for me are the tiny eyeball enclosing goggles that the roadies wear, but...

Difficulties getting an e-car, Part 2

That's based on the 24 kW battery having a couple of kW left in. Then the 22 kW charge plus a bit to cover charger inefficiency would mean about 24/27 units at around 15p per unit, £4 maximum. .

Difficulties getting an e-car, Part 2

Yes, but to do similar on the Leaf requires a fast charger and a special lead at a considerable added cost, plus a higher cost home supply point. Since I would never need those again I wouldn't spend on them. Anyway, as said earlier, that still takes the fastest permitted 4 hours with the...

    Spare Inner Tube Advice

As long as it's a bike with 26" or 700c wheel size and the spindle length isn't excessive, that works ok. It leaves the frame slightly away from homing when it's let go, but tightening the wheel nut pulls it back in again. Fifty and more years ago in the trade when all bikes had steel frames...

Difficulties getting an e-car, Part 2

No, but I was intending to go to the Leicester identical offer at about 100 miles away. That couldn't be reliably done on a single charge either, but given the large saving I intended to do an overnight stop at a hotel with charging socket available before reaching London, then completing the...

    Helmets @ Aldi

I was criticised for replying to someone's teasing mention of my non-helmet wearing, but I think I should be thanked. It turned a minor very short lived thread about a helmet offer into 6 webpages of discussion about helmet wearing pros and cons, home made soups and entertaining furniture...
