    Helmets @ Aldi

I've long since lost count of those who've said this to me over the years, but I'll give a similar answer to the one I gave a couple of years ago. The biting had better hurry up, I'm in my 80th year so time is running out for it to happen! As for the cyclists you've scraped off the tarmac...

    Helmets @ Aldi

I smiled as I posted before, knowing that I would get this answer in one form or another John. The fact is that even this is partly under one's control as I've posted previously. So here once again: In the early years of my driving I suffered three collisions with other vehicles, two minor...

    Helmets @ Aldi

Yes, just as I used a motorcycle helmet in competition at a time when I never used helmets for m/c road riding for 23 years. That was when there were no wearable helmets for road use and no law requiring them. The reason for my helmet use choices in those circumstances is simply that the risks...

Is anyone offering an e-bike with type approval and throttle?

Petrol cost doesn't worry me. My car can get around 47 mpg if I pussy-foot, but in practice I get about 27 mpg overall because I prefer to just use it properly to it's potential. .

Is anyone offering an e-bike with type approval and throttle?

Indeed, it just remains to see if a manufacturer will make the decision to do it. Since there will be a cost for each model type approved, whether it's worthwhile will depend on the sales volume. On this side of the pond only the UK are likely to be interested, but if at 700 watts rating, the...

Is anyone offering an e-bike with type approval and throttle?

Definitely not for me as an alternative to a pedelec. I wouldn't even want that just for commuting, since for that I'd just go the whole way to a proper scooter, similar disadvantages with many more advantages. .

    Helmets @ Aldi

Somewhat different for me. I've never been off a bike in a way that could possibly hit my head, but while running in the countryside I have tripped and hit the front of my head really hard, both forehead and nose taking the brunt with nose probably broken but not offset since it was painful for...

Is anyone offering an e-bike with type approval and throttle?

Yes definitely, as so often with e-bikes, what the law says and detection are very different matters. The law doesn't allow for power cut lag though, it say the power must cut when pedalling ceases. .

Is anyone offering an e-bike with type approval and throttle?

They remain permanently legal, the law only applies to the machine and not an owner. It is possible that their value will be increased, but there would need to be provenance, such as the original purchase invoice accompanying the sale. .

Is anyone offering an e-bike with type approval and throttle?

Technically the rotation must control the power application at all times for this to be legal. If at any point power could continue without rotation, that would be illegal. There's a clear division of law on this: Riding is only under pedelec law which requires power to be cut the moment...

Is anyone offering an e-bike with type approval and throttle?

That's not just in France, that applies throughout the EU including the UK. As long as the pedals are turning at those speeds the pedelec rules are satisfied. It's using the walk-alongside throttle without pedalling while in any way onboard the bike which breaks the law. That's because it's...

    New tyres. Cool or weird?

Don't take any notice of him, childhood all the way to 18 years old is all about conformity. They're terrified of anything that looks different from the norm in their world, in this case black tyres. And they have an added bias, if an adult did it, it's probably not cool, the older the adult...

    New tyres. Cool or weird?

I think they look fine and as Fat Franks they're good tyres. We once had quite a few white tyres, so long ago I can't remember when but I think it was probably in the 1970s when cycling was at a low ebb in this country. In the USA they've been commonplace for very many years. And there's...

    Is this possible?

Once put into use a lithium battery starts deteriorating and low cost ones can typically have a life of three years or less, regardless of how much use they've had. In fact lack of use can be a killer, since a battery left uncharged for long periods like three months or more such as in winter...

Does spending £300 more make a difference?

Sometimes little or no difference,. the pricing can be more a matter of supplier policy then a precise measure of value. Given your power needs the Woosh Big Bear crossbar bike for riders of 5' 8" or over or the Big Bear LS step-through for riders of 5' 4" or over fit what you need. They have...
