Don't worry to much about this, as another kiwi says, pedal slowly while changing down on the approach to a stop point and the change will work ok. One of the latest automatic gear change systems now changes down by itself as the bike comes to a halt, but I can't remember which it is. .

Sealed Cartridge Wheel bearings v Cup and Cone Type

I greatly prefer the sealed bearings and have never had trouble with them as wheel bearings. I'd like to see the end of cup and cone as being primitive and more in keeping with cotter pins and the other such long departed just-about-good-enough crudities. .

The Kalkhoff-BMZ battery internals look like they could be a bit difficult to recell, depending on how all the plastic elements etc are stuck together:

Thanks Eddie, I wasn't aware of them and was posting mainly about UK experience with failed recellings and failed recelling companies. On one of my support websites I used to include recelling options, but eventually discontinued that due to company after company disappearing necessitating...

    NuVinci

Me too, Acera on my last two bikes and they almost never need adjusting. The rear mechanism copes with megarange sprockets too. .

But they can have walk-alongside throttles, but like throughout the EU, only for use when walking. In fact it was the Swiss Biketec company that invented them. It's for this reason that I use twistgrip gearchangers, even quicker and selecting any gear instantly. I can't be bothered with...

Possibly, but I reserve judgement on that until these recelling companies have lasted for a while. We've had successions of them over the years, none have lasted and the jobs they did were more often than not very poor with short subsequent lives. .

Definitely attractive on the surface, but I don't like e-bikes with integrated batteries. When the replacemnt time comes, they have you over a barrel on price, and there's been the odd occasion where model discontinuation has meant no batteries at all a year or two later. .

The UK market is inconsequential to China, too small to be worried about, it's the USA that's a major market for China. That's a leisure market where throttles are permitted in all states permitting e-bikes, though many states have other restrictions that we would hate here. There's no nirvana...

That's the popular choice Mike, so you at least know it's a tried and proven one. .

Clacking noise - Kalkhoff Impulse 2 motor

Panasonic did the same when changing from the series 1 to series 2 motor, but they've had no trouble whatsoever with their nylon gear. It's obviously the greater power and torque of the Impulse unit that's to blame. They may have to learn from Heinzmann, their lower power motors have a nylon...

Cree bike light 18650 battery compatible?

Duracell is the one make of battery I will not buy. The best thing about them is the advertising quantity, the next best thing their profits. Neither interest me. .

Clacking noise - Kalkhoff Impulse 2 motor

Since the Impulse changes have not always been seasonal I'm quite sure the frame mountings for the units will have been the same throughout all three evolutions. Another good reason for that to be true is the cost of changing the crankcase castings as well as retooling for frame changes...

Certainly is for the UK, but realistically I can't see it ever changing. The fact that the over half billion population of the mainland EU and Japan have been happy with pedelec only through into a third decade now, and that trend spreading into other countries makes the argument for change...

Of course even if done, it wouldn't satisfy all. Some members object to any provision that only applies to registered disabled, feeling it should include all who have a more minor need. It would be difficult to administer that, I can only think of a Doctor's Certificate method which would be...

    NuVinci

In efficiency terms the two NuVincis will be identical, it's just the changing that's eased by the auto system. The Nexus 8 I'd consider a bt more efficient, but the difference won't be great overall. The Nexus 8 has efficiency that varies widely according to the gear that's selected, while...

I'm not sure it could be quite that easy due to the conflicts with at least two laws and the nature of those laws. However, since cars for use by the disabled can be modified to suit the user in ways that almost certainly conflict with the Construction and Use regulations, there must be a way...

A few do for three reasons. First there's the odd traffic officer who has brushed up on the law following an accident involving a pedelec, I know of two in my general area. Second are the officers who have ridden or still ride pedelecs since their forces used/still use them, That's quite a...

Not as the law stands, but I think there might just be a case for there to be a class of e-bike classified for the partially disabled. There is a snag though, the existing Low Powered Moped class, now becoming class L1e-A could be considered as ideal for that purpose, since it is an e-bike...

It won't be enforced, it will just happen over time as it did in the mainland EU. Eventually there'll just be pedelecs left in use and the users won't even be aware of the possibility of having full throttles on them. .
