Anybody who has spent time on an e-bike exhibition stand, will appreciate this thread

What does that say about the vast amount of money we've spent on education over the last 50 years or so? We definitely aren't getting value for money from it when such a total failure to understand basic physics is evident. .

    how far

During the whole life of this pedelecs forum here's the worst case and best case I've known to be accurately reported. 11 miles from a 370 Wh battery. (33.6 W/mile) 62 miles from a 260 Wh battery and that not emptied, at least 5 miles left in it. (3.9 W/mile) So as you can see, nearly 10 to 1...

Anybody who has spent time on an e-bike exhibition stand, will appreciate this thread

Never on e-bikes, but I've done daily stand duties for as much as seven days and it's exhausting. I remember one occasion when young, two of us ducked out for a couple of hours by deliberately causing the hotel lift to fail and lock up between floors when heading down for breakfast, even stuck...

    26 tyres for Ebikes

Yes, Alan Quay's Schwalbe tyres recommendation seconded, both really are the "bulky slicks" you ask for. Big Apples Fat Frank .

Indeed, online information is transient. You could post this again in a months time and find more who didn't know about them. .

    Legislation and e-bike conversions

In most EU countries, yes as the law stands. Not in the UK though, since the DfT have said such an e-bike will still be regarded as an EAPC if it conforms to pedelec regulations in all respects other than the fully acting fitted throttle, which the type approval will permit. .

    Legislation and e-bike conversions

There is no official way to get approval for any home build/kit conversion e-bike. The tests laid down in EN15194 are only suitable for complete e-bikes so a certificate cannot be issued for a motor or kit. In most EU countries it's sufficient for the conversion to meet with the legal usage...

How to replace an e-bike tube without removing the wheel.

I change tubes and even tyres without taking wheels out at all. Just needs one wheel nut off, a bit of muscle and judgement on how far to go:

Bosch made the VW emission cheating dongle.

Don't forget SEAT, also a VW cloned range of models. .

    eZee E-bikes @ Interbike 2015

Great range, something for everyone there. For too long tilting trikes have been confined to the oddball magazines like Velovision and and equally oddball outlets. They need to be seen as a mainstream product, especially e-powered versions, since they will suit so many users who might...

    fUCI

It's not the bending but where I could put the shopping that concerns me. Seriously, I don't see the point, race styled bikes for road use are well catered for by existing designs. This seems difference for differences sake, rather than any true gain. .

Bosch made the VW emission cheating dongle.

In UK law and many others, one can make almost anything. Whether something that's legal to make can be used for illegal purposes is entirely irrelevant for the maker, since it's the person committing the crime who is responsible. This is demonstrated by the fact that government does ban the...

Bosch made the VW emission cheating dongle.

Yes, and have done for many years. I think it was about six or seven years ago that Porsche investment capital resulting from stock profit growth was valued at over 4 billion euros, money that it would have taken them centuries to make from their limited market cars. .

Bosch made the VW emission cheating dongle.

If true that puts Bosch in the clear and heightens VW's guilt. Inventing it isn't a crime and Bosch did not promote it's public use. VW was warned not to use it in that fashion so have no mitigating circumstances. The USA has a simple way of dealing with this affair, avoiding extended legal...

    hydrogen generators for cars

And even hydrogen powered e-bikes are old news. Back around 2001, Aprilia launched a fully working concept hydrogen fuel-cell e-bike, very smart and stylish it was too. And around four years later a private individual (I seem to remember he was German) built a hydrogen fuel-cell recombent...

Bit confused re battery charging/storage ..help pls !

This can be necessary with some types of battery meter to set the zero charge point for the meter to measure from. Until it empties the first time the meter doesn't have a reference. Kalkhoff-BMZ and some Panasonic batteries are examples. It follows that if you ever suspect the meter has...
