    benelli bikes

They should be sound, Benelli are a long established Italian maker of motorcycles. MotoGB who are selling the e-bikes are already agents for those motorcycles. As ever with Italian design, these bikes look very stylish. If they perform as well as they look, they'll be great buy.

Dutch view on Ebike after sale services

Quite gloomy overall but unsurprising, given what we know about e-bike reliability and repair problems. The Netherlands dealers have welcomed the big increase in income from their huge e-bike sales but are beginning to experience the considerable downsides. It's an immature market of course so...

Has anyone sought single vehicle approval and insurance, for a 250-1000w 15.5mph ebike?

It's been done twice to our knowledge, but with considerable difficulty in meeting all the requirements. It is a motorcycle class so needing registration, full size rear number plate, VED disc (free), third party insurance, and a motor cycle BS approved helmet. An appropriate driving licence...

    The Man Behind Ford's MoDe:Flex E-Bike

And what a dreadfiul design, weighing 80 lbs and very ugly is what one would expect from a pickup truck designer I suppose. It will never amount to anything. .

    Nostalgic garage smell

Yes, well remembered when I was in the trade in the 1950s. Oil was a major factor in the smell combination, both the oil itself and the much larger amounts that cars used to burn. Today's synthetics just don't smell the same and today's engines burn far less of it. .

    Nice One Froomey!

Brilliant indeed, our first double winner of the Tour de France. Although thirty now, hopefully he may have more Tour wins in him. .

Yet another London female cyclist dies

But again completely impractical Bob. As I've explained earlier in the thread, London has been continuously full of very large construction projects engaging huge numbers of large construction trucks, commonly four axle 30 tonners. They've been shifting huge volumes of spoil from all the...

    Bonkers rear light

I'm guessing you'd be ok with a minor addition on the rear of a car. Just look at the motorcycle situation. They too had to remove dangerous projections from the front, starting with the one-time in-line front number plate which could guillotine pedestrians. But the rear of today's...

    Bonkers rear light

I hope it is ok for you, but please let us know. There's a lack of independent feedback about the efficacy of these laser beamed road images. .

    Bonkers rear light

Sentences pieced together from a dictionary probably! :) I think they're trying to say that the edges of the projected image are helpful to a driver wanting their car well aligned when reversing into a garage. Plus the standard laser warning not to look directly into the beam. They'd probably...

    Bonkers rear light

The failing with all these that a vehicle's headlight, especially when dipped, will overpower and wash out the laser image. The latter is bound to be weak anyway, the black road surface being the worst possible for showing an image. .

    Help please need advice

Cyclezee as a supplier would be unwilling to detail this, but the 36 volt battery on the Quando coupled with the 20 amp controller enables around 720 watts consumption by the eZee motor. The net power into the road when under high load as when hill climbing can reach around 500 watts at around...

    Bike for MS Sufferer

They can't yet anyway since the new type approval law is beiung phased in in stages, January 2016 and January 2017, the first date being most relevant to us. However, there are promising elements in the draft, type L1e-A not requiring a space for a number plate, indicating registration etc not...

Yet another London female cyclist dies

And it's even worse for cyclists since the area under the left side mirrors joining both front zones is also blind to the driver. .

    Bike for MS Sufferer

I agree, I've seen some examples of how inadequate disability measures can be, and it's clear that few designers and planners have disability issues in mind. Considering that over 6 million people in the UK are registered disabled, they really are missing a trick, and that's without considering...

    Help please need advice

I'd second the eZee Quando folder suggestion, it will accept a single battery of 21 Ah or 28 Ah capacity, so plenty for the desired range. The 21 Ah is a stock item but the 28 Ah is a special order. The Quando has plenty of power for trailer pulling as you see here on a 14% hill: And...

    Bike for MS Sufferer

Many of us were though, including our disabled members, and we raised the issues. It's important to note that the DfT didn't select who they consulted. This was a pubicised open consultation for anyone to take part in. All respondents were asked to state the nature of their interest. In...

    Bike for MS Sufferer

The DfT had a twelve week long consultation on the proposed law changes starting 5th January 2010 in which a number of us took part. Many of us made the points about the desirability and sometimes necessity of throttles and that included some of our disabled members, so they did have a say...

Make me an offer for my Kalkhoff

£1188 Mike. That's derived from the new price of your battery (£595) deducted from the original bike price (£1650), leaving £1055. Then that reduced by 25% for the first year depreciation to leave £791.25 for the bike only. The battery is depreciated on an age basis, which I've based on a...
