    Hello from Birmingham, UK

Woosh are a good option for a range of e-bikes in your bracket and they are well thought of in this forum, many owning their e-bikes. Kudos Cycles also have some e-bikes in your range and are another well backed company. And CycleZee who I mentioned before have the Sprint Primo in both...

    Hello from Birmingham, UK

I'm quite sure they are Chinese production Mike, and all their parts certainly will be. If you don't have to have a folder they are best avoided, since full size bikes are much better to ride in every way. There are a number of sound e-bikes under £1000, so no necessity to buy the exotica at...

    Hello from Birmingham, UK

Mine is an eZee bike, sold by Cyclezee, and I've owned two of them. Good powerful bikes. But there are many good makes, falling into crank and hub drives, the two types very different to ride. Therefore the best advice we always give is try out a few to start with, since that will immediately...

Idea - bike hackerspace in london?

I'd already mentioned that for garages Trex, suggesting he use a generator since they are so cheap now. If he wanted quiet Machine Mart do an own-brand low-cost encased 2.2 kW one with dual 13 amp socket outlets. It also has a 12 volt charging outlet so he could have 12 volt lighting off a car...

Idea - bike hackerspace in london?

Maybe not? We've got houses on my estate which cannot have any building on the garden land, but one added a half size shipping container. They don't need planning permission since they aren't fixed, and the half size ones are size of a parking bay and can be securely locked. You get my...

    Chain Lubricant

As I said in reply number one in this thread: "Opinions on what is best to use vary widely and it's a contentious subject." since I knew what was going to follow! :) .

    Hello from Birmingham, UK

Welcome to the forum Mike and please pass on a welcome to your fiancee. Congratulations on your forthcoming marriage for which my very best wishes. Meanwhile enjoy yourself browsing the forum posts, daydreaming about the exotic e-bike you'll buy before the reality of the prior demands for a...

This is the latest statement released by Bike Europe: STEPS New is also that software updates can be installed in the current STEPS drive system. Examples are Walk Assist and Start Mode. Tired Agattu despite new battery.

Best left alone Erik, they are not intended to be serviced, there's almost nothing inside that can be and no internal spares are available. The circuit board is fully encapsulated and glued into the r/h crankcase half. I doubt greasing the nylon reduction gear would make any difference. The...

    schwalbe energizer life tyres

The two Marathon Plus tyres that are first on this webpage if it's mainly road use, choose your tread. The Marathon Plus knobbly on this link if much of the riding is in tough off road conditions. .

    Researching for leccie bike

I think this is related to the pedal pressure input. I found when trying one that easing right off made the shift easier, but of course that's the last thing one wants when tackling a stiffening climb. .

Govt. revs up leccy motorcycle market

That can't be done while we are in the EU. Once applied to a product, VAT can only be reduced to a minimum of 5%. .

    schwalbe energizer life tyres

Yes, I use Marathon Plus tyres and they've almost removed punctures from my riding. As ever though, it's not all win win. They are heavier, also stiffer so are both less comfortable and have a higher roll resistance. They are mainly objections applicable to unpowered cycling, with added...

    schwalbe energizer life tyres

Welcome to the forum Simon. The Energiser Plus has their "greenguard" puncture protection, a 3mm penetration resistant under layer that helps. This is a lot less thick than the Marathon Plus underlayer, so not as effective but better than no underlayer of course. Here's the greenguard...

    Chain Lubricant

It's a standard 7/8 speed rust resistant derailleur chain so is manufactured with impregnated strong hold grease. Adding a grease like that externally is not advisable with a derailleur since it will gather road grit and clog the rear mechanism components. Opinions on what is best to use vary...

Hub gears and throttle for £1,000

No problem Rob, I have the good fortune of having loads of free time and little in the way of responsibilities. I know that many do not have this luxury so I'm happy to help out with searches, links etc. .

Hub gears and throttle for £1,000

The Woosh Sundowner Dutch style stepthrough has the 7 speed Nexus hub. The Woosh Zephyr CDN folder has the 3 speed Nexus hub. Otherwise they are all derailleur models. .

I'm in a dilemma not sure what to do.?????

Yes, but my advice was specifically addressed to dinger19. He has just one e-bike which he is using preferentially, so only the two unpowered bikes are hardly used. .

I'm in a dilemma not sure what to do.?????

Let your heart rule your head dinger19, since these are leisure bikes. Only you know what you really need to do and the fact that you bought these shows you really wanted them. So if you can afford to keep them and have the space, just do that and enjoy the ownership and occasional usage. .

    Bike for specific needs?

Not so pleasant to ride over longer distances, due mainly to often compromised geometry and the smaller wheels less comfortable over road irregularities. .
