    Huge growth in Netherlands e-bikes

:D. No, I'm not short of that, and have never been interested in money anyway. .

First electric bike, few to compare up to £2000

Not really, they use the same motor so having the same performance. The choice between those has three factors, style, equipment and battery size. The Zephyr B only has a 10 Ah battery, the Big Bear a 15 Ah battery. A larger capacity battery gives slightly better performance, longer range and...

First electric bike, few to compare up to £2000

I like the new Krieger model too, but it uses less power through lower gears to tackle those killer hills you mention. That means it will climb a bit slower than the Big Bear with it's more powerful BPM motor. Ideally try both if you get the chance. .

    Battery chargers

Yes you can, the eZee charger's actual output is 42 volts. The makers, HighPower, label them with the nominal battery voltage. Just make sure the connection polarities on the XLR connector are the same as Michael says. It's the battery's BMS that cuts off charging, these chargers are not...

More info on Shimano Steps system

That's a great price, good to see that the CD STEPS cost enables e-bikes at competitive prices, something the first hub-motor STEPS didn't seem to do. .

just got back on the bikes

Sadly no, not as far as any being available anyway. There's been the usual stream of excited announcements from universities and others about battery miracles they've discovered, but as ever they don't come to fruition. Lithium is where it's still at, perhaps only the reliability being...

Which one to sell and which one to keep?

A number of forum threads, including yours, were polluted with a spam post containing a dodgy link which could infect your computers, hence the warning. Once admin had depleted all the spam posts, I followed by removing my warnings. You must have looked in between those two actions. .

More info on Shimano Steps system

Thanks Martin, the original front hub motor STEPS was apparently rather low powered so they seem wedded to that sort of concept. .

Thanks for the info Martin, good to know that at least Scott have adopted it. Do you have any riding impressions of the system? .

More info on Shimano Steps system

It's only sold to manufacturers and I don't know of anyone adopting it so far. Of course this second generation improvement has only just been released so there will be no bike with it yet. .

just got back on the bikes

Hi Dave, welcome back. I well remember all your posts and your being a radio ham. As you see, I'm still here as I've been since the first day of this forum's opening in 2006. Glad to learn your e-bike is still ok. .

    Ford launches e-bikes

It's more one of design constraint Jonathan. There is far less intrinsic flexibility in electric motor design, and this is illustrated by history. In the earliest days of motor vehicles, it was the electric car which was the superior one, their motors already very good, and electric vans were...

What are all these dodgy links?

Hi Jamie, it's not your link refered to, so no apology necessary, I knew your request was genuine. The links in question were a large batch in all parts of the site from a member named as CarolineM, all containing a suspect link. It was clear they were spam from the multiplicity, and a...

What are all these dodgy links?

They were a batch of spam posts from a new member, purporting to be for a university project research, all containing a dodgy link and scattered across the forums. Some even quoted from other members posts in an unrelated way. I alerted admin and the posts were quickly removed. When I have a...
