    Hello from Finland !

Hi Tinu, a warm welcome from the forum to offset your cold conditions! We have a number of members in Finland, including Sherman, Marlon, Zombie, Magnuken and Tkarttu. I believe you lucky people are allowed 1000 watts on e-bikes there, to encourage their use. .

    Gearing 20" wheel bike Bafang BBS02 750w

Just a note on hub motor freewheel threads. A small number of single speed folders have used rear hub motors with the smaller diameter BMX thread*. It's unlikely you'll see one, but if wishing to convert one from single speed to a multi gear system it can crop up, and there are no multi...

    Gearing 20" wheel bike Bafang BBS02 750w

That doesn't matter, the only thing the law says about the voltage is that it cannot exceed 48 volts nominal on an e-bike. It's only the stated wattage rating that counts. .

    Norwegian, the best budget airline

Very much my point, plus the ways we squandered that North Sea income. Such things as three aircraft carriers built for the 1980s, all three now decommissioned and only one ever seeing any genuine but questionable action. We really have almost nothing to show for all that income we spent. .

    Norwegian, the best budget airline

True Jonathan, the outcome figures are an approximation, but I very much doubt the Norwegians really missed out on much. From what I can see they've always been the winners of the two of us over the last half century, their decisions on their EU relationship being especially sensible for...

Solar charging for Bosch e-bike batteries

Noticing you are in Australia and that the tour you mention was in Mongolia, both are noted for their clear sunshine hours. In the UK, Scandinavia and much of Europe the conditions are very different, often extended periods of all day dense cloud cover and even on the odd days of few or no...

Do you think I need a new cassette?

Understood. I tend to change the lot when changing a system, but am happy not to spend on the very high end, being satisfied with well adjusted lower end components. .

    Norwegian, the best budget airline

Sounds like flying in the 1960s and early 1970s John, when it was still a pleasure. Unlike the unpleasant aspects of so much of today's flying. Sadly the airports today remain a miserable experience, though for a wide variety of reasons. .

    Norwegian, the best budget airline

Norway gets so many things spectacularly right. Unlike the way we wasted the income from North Sea oil and gas, they decided to invest all the income. They now sit on 500 billions equivalent, meaning each of the 4 million Norwegian men, women and children is worth 125,000 in invested cash and...

Do you think I need a new cassette?

Shimano have always been obsessed with fast gear changing and were first to introduce low peak reshaped sprockets and sprocket side profiling to assist chain lift-off. That does indeed speed and smooth changes, but sometimes at the cost of lift-off when it's not wanted. Of course they are not...

    Dynamo...

Even the best dynamo lights are really only good enough for you to be seen. They aren't very good for you to see the way ahead and are especially poor on unlit lanes for seeing potholes, downed branches etc in good time. For that you really need todays good LED lights or torches with mounting...

hello from a flykly owner in London

I've no experience with them, but the Woosh Big Bears seem to be highly regarded in here and they are undoubtedly good value. I can't think of anything to beat their value/features combination, but Kudos Cycles can get close, though a removed bottle battery will not be obviously missing...

hello from a flykly owner in London

I've no knowledge of that Vanmoof and note they are very short on numbers, other than range claims. Makers/suppliers of good e-bikes are generally not so reticent, they give battery voltage and capacity at least, enabling claims to be assessed for validity. Your need for a thief proof e-bike...

hello from a flykly owner in London

That's under 2.7 Wh per mile, not in any way a true electric assist bike, more a bike capable of a very occasional and brief use of assistance. As d8veh says, a normal e-bike level is around 12 Wh per mile, to which I'd add 8 Wh is about as low as one can go for any true classification as...
