    You've seen a poor man's Porsche!

No, same link problem Fordulike, it's pedelecs corrupting it. Pasting this link into a browser works: http://bit.ly/1fdAiTE Pedelecs seems to be trying to decode the short link when it's clicked, but leaving the destination link corrupted. This is the correct destination link which can be...

    You've seen a poor man's Porsche!

Link just shows blank ebay page for me. Pasting the link location ( http://bit.ly/1fdAiTE ) into a browser works, so it seems pedelecs is corrupting it. Don't click this short link, it won't work, just copy and paste it into a browser so pedelecs can't alter it. Those BMW 2002 cars were...

    Geneta folding scooter

It can be used legally in the UK as a moped, so as long as the maker or importer gets EU type approval, it can be imported and sold without problems. I can't see the point of the fold though. It doesn't reduce its size much and it would be too heavy to carry. Also at a maximum of 1500 watts...

    Who likes Crank-drives?

That used to be the case with Japanese products like Toyota, Datsun (Nissan) and Honda cars at one time. But before long they wiped out the weaker French and German cars, left FIAT in dire trouble seeking government rescue and completely destroyed the UK's car industry. Remember, the French...

    Hi John from Norwich

And just as windy here in the UK when much of this country cycled sixty and more years ago, all using capes when it rained. A good cycling cape drapes well down in front of the handlebar stem and well below saddle level at the rear, both helping to keep it down in wind.

    Who likes Crank-drives?

Ingenuity should take care of point 1, and I don't think smaller wheels will severely affect the handing, The wheelbase remains the same. The steering with a smaller front wheel will be a little faster, but that will be offset by the longer than normal wheelbase for a small wheel bike, this...

    Who likes Crank-drives?

Yes, now I understand exactly the point you mean. However, it might mean separating on both sides, two points, unless you have the red yoke joined at one point at the rear above the wheel. What I had in mind with the Tonaro style frame was that a true Brompton fold with the whole rear triangle...

    Who likes Crank-drives?

If the suspension links pass both sides of the frame seat tube and the spring unit is ahead of that, to achieve a fold Brompton fashion means separating the suspension links on both sides. The Tonaro style frame avoids that problem, since there is no seat tube in the way. The spring unit could...

    Who likes Crank-drives?

From the point of view of having a belt, a separatable suspension frame of that type would allow the belt fitting. But the fold seems to me to be an inconvenient one, breaking at both sides where the suspension link pairs to the spring/shock unit. This sort of frame (Tonaro Bighit) but with BB...

Replacing / recelling battery for Giant Lafree Twist

The spares stock is held at Giant's Netherlands centre normally, but they deliver to the UK quickly. I'll be very surprised if they don't still have them, since a high proportion of the 20,000 Lafrees sold are still working and there are also many BikeTec Flyers with the same unit.

Replacing / recelling battery for Giant Lafree Twist

I believe a Giant dealer can still order a new battery for you, they had a new supplier making them with an improved meter circuit quite recently. It would probably cost around £250 to £300. The problem with NiMh now is the lack of good high discharge cells. There are plenty of D cells...

    larger chainring for down hill

Could do, since it's on a standard OCD 5 spoke spider. The chainring was by Zenith of France. I didn't need a triple on that particular bike since it's beast of a hill climber already. Up to 12% gradient I don't even need to pedal, and it will even restart on 12% using motor only.
