Brake sensors and 1 to 4 cable differences.

    That hall sensor looks like to me as a 3 pin device. There are magnet operated 2 pin sensors but fitting one would be tricky, see the minimumalist levers I have; One can but ask. The levers that come with the kit are these cheap looking things;

Brake sensors and 1 to 4 cable differences.

Is the pinout of the connector on the KT controllers a standard layout, if so it would imply that you can use either type of 1 to 4 ?

    Local Cop Clampdown?

Brake sensors and 1 to 4 cable differences.

Looking at a eBike conversion kit for Brompton. One I have seen comes with cheap brake levers with integrated (mechanical ?) switches and a 2 pin red Julet style connector. The KT controller comes with a 1 to 4 cable with matching red 2 pin Julet connectors for the brakes. There are other 1...

Bafang displays with navigation and Bluetooth

Thats been a common trend on TV for several years. There seems to be an assumption these days that everyone has TVs the size of the side of a house. All to often text appears on the screen that requires that you have a house sized TV in order to read it.

    eBrompton Build

Oh, falling off is rare, but banging or hitting the bars might happen more often. However, not a problem really, at a cost of £20 delivered, I have a spare set.

    eBrompton Build

Dunno. But the low rise carbon bars do help with the trolley mode issue. How long they will last I do not know. Carbon stuff is brittle, so if there is a collision\fall the carbon bars might fail wheras as the heavier alloy bars would probably survive. They were not expensive, around 50%...

    eBrompton Build

Handle bars If you look a the picture of the folded Brompton below, you can see a problem; When folded the handlebars are very close to the ground. I have worked around this on my previous Brompton by shortening the bars and moving them off centre a bit. There is for the Brompton (those...

    eBrompton Build

Why build an eBrompton ? The Brompton is a good bike for shopping or commuting and short range leisure trips. The neatness and compactness of the fold is a compelling advantage, you wont have trouble taking it on public transport or storing it in a corner etc. Fitted with a decent set of ‘easy’...

    Fitted eBike Alarm Today

Unforunatly, these days it cost a packet to get such stuff through the regulations and testing that RF transmitters in particular need, circa £25K. Make a change\enhancement to the design (MK2 ?) and you need to hand over another packet. Of course a lot of manufacturers in the far East just do...

    Fitted eBike Alarm Today

Sure could. https://stuartsprojects.github.io/2023/02/17/Improved-Tracker-and-Sensor-Node-for-XIAO-and-LoRa.html That small XIAO board was specifically designed to be very easy to build, so you dont need to be a surface mount soldering expert to build it. Just working through writing a LoRa...

    Fitted eBike Alarm Today

I built a 'extender' for the above mentioned alarm, its described here; https://stuartsprojects.github.io/2022/09/08/Cycle-Alarm-Extender.html I have since produced a much easier to build transmitter board based on the Seeed XIAO SAMD21; Must write it up one day ........

    Another Ebike conversion kit death

Amazing. Someone could buy 10, put them in parallel, paying £140 for a '30Ahr' battery or is it 300Ahr ? (I recommend you dont try this).

Make sure you have the UK set as your location, it often defaults to Afganistan.

Good call, the Samsung 21700 40T is 4Ahr and has a very high discharge current capability. Might be a way to go, 10S1P for light weight and local, 10S2P for long distance mode.

    Another Ebike conversion kit death

Indeed so. I was tempted for a microsecond or so to buy one just to see haw bad they really were, but could not thing of a safe way to try one in an eBike, even if you were in a quarry with nothing flamable around, you could still set fire to the bike. But I bet people are buying and using...
