    Batteries Charging Routine

My thoughts too. But look at the current fall off for the 41V charge, same sort of currents but twice as long. At what voltage would the balancing normally start ?

    Time for a helmet camera?

+1 And if you want further evidence of this, just watch all the brake lights come on as cars\vehicles approach a speed camera.

    Batteries Charging Routine

On the charger in question the green light comes on when 280mA is flowing. Then about 0.13Ahr goes somewhere over the next 45 minutes .............

    Batteries Charging Routine

On the charger I was using the green light comes on when the current drops below 280mA. In the case of the 42V charge it takes a further 45mins for the current to fall to zero. Whilst you can keep an eye on this with an in-line charge\discharge monitor, it would be good if chargers had a extra...

    Bike pumps and tyre pressure

I find no real need to measure tyre pressures as such, just go by feel. On a new tyre\tube setup if I want to know what say 60psi feels like I just use a track pump at home to check. On the road I carry a Truflo MiniMTN high volume pump which I find quite effective for its size, 185cm long...

    Suspension seat post

I put a Suntour NCX on my Titanium framed hardtail recently. Well worth the cost, gives a very comfortable and relaxing ride on our modern moonscape type roads.

    Batteries Charging Routine

Does anyone else have any practical examples or tests and results they have done where eBike batteries, preferably 10Ahr and less, have been discharged to say 3.0V per cell whilst measuring the Ahr capacity then charged back up to 4.1V per cell, the charge stopped, either at the first 4.1V point...

    Batteries Charging Routine

Indeed not. I have not done a discharge test using the diode charge hack, and I will wait for the 1A charger to arrive.

Which eBike should I buy? Todayyy!!!

If I do that then the range covered increases dramatically, since the motor cuts out, as required, at 15.5mph.

Nope; Thre was a cheaper one, £2.56, but no longer available.

What kind of connector is this? - Looking to do a Bosch tool battery mod

Here is a picture of a Charger you can get for those Bosch powertool batteries, its they are about £25 from the far east. The plastic bit that contacts the battery and holds it, with the 5 metal prongs, looks a slightly different colour to the body of the charger, wonder this holder is...

    Batteries Charging Routine

I will wait for the 1A charger to arrive before checking again, its good to be kind to batteries. I did see a 42V 1A charger on Alixpress for around £3 delivered, but thats too cheap to be true I think.

Here is the plot. The current drop under CV is about the same until 1Amp, but then diverges considerably.

Which eBike should I buy? Todayyy!!!

I would take the range a seller quotes with considerable caution. Range can vary tremendously depending on the weight of the rider, the terrain (as in hills), how fast you go and how much effort you put in. So one seller quoting 40 miles for a bike does not mean it has more 'range' than a...

    Batteries Charging Routine

The charge with a Si diode in series does work and the battery charges to 41.2V or so but the constant voltage stage takes around 2 hours to complete versus about 1 hour when there is no diode and the battery charges to 42V. This is a 5Ahr battery pack and charging at 2A is a bit much for long...

What kind of connector is this? - Looking to do a Bosch tool battery mod

The connector I am not sure about, however I am interested in the use of the Bosch powertool batteries on a Brompton. I have recently converted a Brompton to electric and using a 10S1P Samsung 21700 battery I ended up with a working eBrompton weighing in at 11.8Kg. The 5Ahr battery I have...

    Camping Chair

The significant problem with chairs like that is that they cannot cope with soft ground, the legs are only suited to firm ground. One easy low cost solution to this would be plastic plates maybe 15cm diameter which you could put on the legs to stop them sinking. The mat under the legs on the...

    Batteries Charging Routine

Dont see the logic of that, charging to 42V and then discharging to 41V, is just not the same as charging to only 41V. No hack to a charger needed, just make up an Anderson lead with a diode in-line to go between charge monitor and battery.
