    Another mid drive

Video here: Valeo automatic transmission. Claimed to be more powerful than other systems (probably because it is a 48v system). Also has an immobilization feature. Interesting anyway though not sure I'd be tempted to switch from my hub motor.

    Cassette removal -tool too short?!

I need to service the freehub on my ncm Moscow, the cassette isn't spinning freely. It spun the cranks and triggered the motor when I wasn't expecting. Bike slipped out of my hands and now I've got a bent derailleur hanger! Any, came to take it off, but the lock ring appears to be deep inside...

Saggy battery -Oxygen S- Cross CB

I've noticed significant sag from my battery recently. The bike is around 2yrs 4months old and has had a hard life. I'd estimate 7000 miles of commuting in Sheffield (odometer unreliable as had new conteollco last year). Today the display showed the battery voltage as over 41v hot off the...

    Redundancy

I've got a final decision meeting (part 2) tomorrow on making my job redundancy. Anyone been through redundant. Anyone have any advice? The final redundancy meeting (part 1) was on Wednesday. Management said there were no viable alternatives to making jobs redundant but then adjourned the...

Oxygen service -so good it deserves a thread of its own.

I had a bad day Tuesday. To top it off when I got home I dropped by S-Cross CB battery charger-end-on onto the concrete floor and cracked the plastic around the fuse and charge point. Battery still worked fine and charged OK and I cycled into work with it the next day, but I was concerned about...

    S-Cross CB Error Code Bingo

Today's Error code is Error Code 9. "Display Communication Error" according to the manual. Checked the wiring looms over, all seem ok. Anyone any thoughts on sorting this one out? This is the worst game of bingo I've ever played. I really don't want to collect all the error codes.

    Freeview recorder box

Any recommendations for a terrestial freeview recorder box? After one for my mother in law. Most seem to ether just subscribe to SkyHD or Virgin TiVo or use catch-up services. At home I've got a Tvonics dtrhd500 which is awesome. Unfortunately Tvonics went into administration in 2012 so that's a...

Earliest hub motor and earliest peddle assist e-bike

By day I'm a trainee patent attorney and trade mark attorney. Rummaging through the patent databases I think I've found the earliest patent for a hub motor (6 coil, brushed, 100A, 10V) on a bike -US552271A, attached, from 1895. There are no cranks though, so it appears to be more akin to a...

OXYGEN S-Cross CB -intermittent cut out.

What could be causing this: When cycling the display initially shows full battery charge (41.5V, the battery has been charged earlier in the day), initially all seems normal, assisting as it should. Then the assist stops, display remains on, but the display suddenly shows anything between 33v...

Oxygen S-Cross CB -broken battery mount.

Opinions please, araldite?! Back story: I got home last night, used the key to unlock the battery, tugged on battery, it wouldn't budge. Looked closes at the battery & mount as I turned the key, I could see the locking pin disengage from the receiver on the battery -i.e. the lock could be fully...

Oxygen S-Cross CB seat tube failure.

Got into work a couple of days ago, was chatting to a work colleague when I noticed a major crack in the seat tube of my S-Cross CB. -Please see first two attached images. I contacted Oxygen bicycles to alert them and ask if it was under warranty. The next day the came out and picked the bike...

    Spare Charger Oxygen S-Cross CB

Anyone have any recommendations for sourcing a spare charger for my S-Cross? The one that came with it is a SANS SSLC084V42, rated output 42.0V - 2A, centre positive. Oxygen will sell me one, but for £50. :( Would there be any issues (aside from my warranty) if I used a third party one, such...

    Oxygen S-Cross CB shunt mod

Following on from this thread: http://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/threads/oxygen-s-cross-cb-hunt-for-the-shunt.27196/ I've done the deed. Bought 3x R006 resistors rated to 2W and 2512 in size and piggy backed these onto the three R002's on the board. It isn't my finest soldering job, but seems to...

Oxygen S-Cross CB -hunt for the shunt

I've been reading (always dangerous) about doing things to my shunt in my S-Cross CB. I found the controller and had a look, but have failed to identify anything that looks like a shunt save for some really heavy solder tracks, but guess these could be for heat dissipation. Anyone have any ideas?

    Oxygen S-Cross Intermittent power loss

Following a ride to work in the drizzle last Friday morning my Oxygen S-Cross CB has developed an intermittent power fault. The symptoms are: Assistance will fade or cut out altogether when riding Turning the system on/off sometimes rectifies the fault, or it will cut back in of its own accord...

    Bafang 8fun BFSWX02 36v 250w technical drawings

Does anyone know where I can find the specification for a Bafang 8fun BFSWX02 36v 250w rear hub motor? The closest I can find is this here: http://www.elifebike.com/upfile/dtpic/2012/8A/RK1S.8TKFU/8NQF6B_EWH14.jpg But that is for a BFSWX02-P. I'm not sure if that makes a difference. I'm...

Reliable commuter machine + Sheffield Hills

Hi All, I've been commuting 9 miles to work for the past two years on regular bike. After being clipped by a van, having my first child on the way, and a continuing desire to live, I've been trying to find ways of improving my commute. I don't want to get a car, and thought an ebike was worth a...
