August 16, 20196 yr Good evening all I have a 1000w rear wheel hub, 48v 10ah battery. The original controller that came with the wheel is a square wave type and the peak power is less than 20a for sure. Which is slowly undoing nuts and bolts on my Trek Marlin 5. I have searched for a sine wave controller, but i am slightly confused by the power ratings, for example i have found : 48v sine wave controller, limited to 28amps but the rated power on the controller is 500w. Since my wheel is 1000w, will that burn the controller? Or would it be fine to put it in ? Why is that 500w rating on the controller ?
August 16, 20196 yr A sinewave may well likely not work with you unsensored motor but you can try. Don't worry about the W rating as it is just tosh, the important bit is the actual current rating.
