36v 22 Ah 600 Watts = How Many Miles?

My guesstimate would be around 20-30 miles @ 600W and around 80-100 miles @ 200W eco...top end figures would be best case scenario. These guesstimates I have based on the performance experience of my own bike doing some quick calculations and are based on using pedal assist at high power level (no throttle) travelling at average speed 15mph on varied terrain, which hits the best case scenario for me. My calculations also assume the bike is a conventional light-to-average weight (20-23kg) pedelec, the motor is efficient, cyclist average weight, and reasonably fit ;-)

Steve doing 32mph on a pedelec sounds like a blast.. can you do that on throttle alone or is it on pedal assist?

The fastest I can do on pedal assist is about 20mph in high gear on the flat with light pedalling.. on throttle it's very different story, my bike doesn't perform so good, it moves along at a leisurely 12mph approx.. I think this lower speed may be built into the controller to extend the battery life, as throttle really seems to suck the battery up quick..

I haven't used throttle much, I prefer pedal assist. I must do a proper speed measurement, it may be slightly faster than 12mph but definitely feels significantly slower than pedal assist even with only light pedalling.

I have to pedal hard with motor to get to 32 mph and I can only keep it there for about a minute
I can do 25 mph a lot more relaxed with moderate pedaling.
Motor only I have had about 21 mph with the wind behind me.
I think the latest Optibike 850R can command a speed of 35+ mph
I shoud imaging the next Optibike model 2012 will have a 1000 watt motor and will fly!

The running speed also affects the consumption, For the highest mileage per watt you should run at the point of maximum efficiency. That's generally at about 80 to 85% of full speed. Since your motor only speed seems to be
about 19/20 mph, running at about 17 mph will consume the least.

I have 2 batteries onboard now ones a 10ah nimh and the other a 22ah li-ion
so Im hoping to get a good range of about 50+ miles with pedaling on full power!
