Interesting, 2012 seems to be quite a transitional year...

My reading too. Those lucky enough to visit Eurobike will be able to see all these changes, all the information is online too, but the English language versions and translations hide much of the detail.

12Xu22....I have PM'd you directly....just one further thought those customised handlebars you have fitted have not changed the operating angle of the front cables or put some resistance in the cables because they are working at acute angles....this would have the effect of dragging the brakes on but not enough to easily detect at rest.
I have ridden many Cheetahs now and have never experienced the drag you describe,in fact the bike freewheels very easily.

I've no idea about those bikes, but do they have regen? That could cause a similar effect if activated.

No, regen has largely disappeared these days, too unproductive on bikes and the accompanying drag unwelcome. BionX still have it in switched form under rider control on their direct drive hub motors though.

right, I've resurrected the thread as I am reuinted once again with the Cheetah and have managed to sort the drag issue, it was indeed the brake causing the problem and I have tweaked it. Result? No drag. So much so that I went for a ride this morning with no motor running and it did indeed ride pretty much like a normal bike, the first time I have experienced drag free e-biking, on any of the four bikes I've had (fast4ward, wisper and yamaha being the other ones) so kudos to Dave from Kudos. I'm enjoying the cheetah, it is naturally nippy, and I like the frame design; if only you could adjust the handlebar height it might be an all round winner (oh, and shave 5kg off the weight) ...

A common complaint on so may bikes these days and a salutary lesson on leaving a good basic design alone. Bike structures were perfected many decades ago and didn't need to be changed, but the meddlers who think everything can be improved just couldn't leave the perfectly good headstock arrangement alone. As a result we are stuck with the present inferior "improvements" in various implementations, all of which which lose full adjustability.
