A non-electric folding bike question

Has anyone heard of Deep Blue Sky Ltd?

Explorer Pair of 6 speed folding bikes Deep Blue Sky Ltd

I found their web site recently as I was looking for a folding (none electric) bike to take with us in our campervan when on holiday.
They have an offer on their site - 2 folding bikes for £179.99 with free postage.
Not sure if that includes VAT?

Seems a good price to me for a 6-gear folder.
Anyone know a reason why I should walk away? - Apart, of course, from the fact it's not electric

I think they might be okay for occasional use. Personally I would go for a more established name such as Dahon or Brompton. They are obviously more expensive, but as with most things you get what you pay for.

Proportions aren't bad, but it's a big fold, and like all these cheap small wheeled folders, very low geared. Top gear probably about 60", which on a normal bike is really middle gear, so either a slow ride or legs spinning furiously to get some speed.

Rear suspension will make it harder work to ride too.

Depends what you want it for. OK for going round the block but after a couple of miles it would get tedious.

The wife has just got home from work and I showed her the folding bikes. She thinks the same as me that they would be great to take with us and cheap too.
On west country wages two Dahon's or Brompton's are beyond us.
£90 each for an occasional use folder is ideal. The low speed is good to, as the wife hates going fast. May even give her a reason to get out on the bike more. Her mountain bike just gathers dust in the shed

Good luck with them. If they do what you need then you've got a bargain! The most expensive bikes, whatever the price, are the ones that don't get used!

i reckon you coudl get a dahon 2nd hand for close to that price (no chance on a brommie)

I second that, you might find yourself unable to go faster than 13 without pedalling on air, you should also check the length of the cranks to see if they are not miniaturised and the clearance of the pedals from the ground. it's nice to have a bike designed by folding specialists or else to try it first.
