Maybe yours is set up differently to mine, but I can pedal as hard as I want to. I just have to select the gear and power level to give me the cadence and effort that I prefer. The motor gets up to speed and then I can add effort to decrease the power consumption or just have an easy ride. Just the opposite of my Bosch motor, but that feels more like a normal bike, however, it's harder work than the Bafang, as you might expect.

another update. got my cable from http://www.empoweredcycles.com/ it arrive in 6 days from US and was $25+$8 shipping
Setting from factory was
0=1%
1=52%
2=58%
3=64%
4=70%
5=76%
6=82%
7=88%
8=94%
9=100%
why is level 1 set at half power from factory? then steps are very small?
i have set it now in 10% each step
is that ok? why did it come from factory at 52% on level 1?
no wonder i felt the bike was felt over asisted on low level and only got 20odds miles to one charge

Cable ordered from empowered too, thanks for reminding me, meant to do it weeks ago.

Have you set your speed levels at 100% or kept them stock?
