The recommended tyre pressures for my Gazelle Easy Glider are 80/85 psi. The valves are schrader.
To get there needs a track pump. I have 2 of these. The one I keep in Spain, a pump I have had for many years, will make 80 psi without any problems. The one I have here at home - a much newer one less than 12 months old- will get to about 70 psi and then the air starts to blow back up the body of the pump. In fact it will get to 70 - and then no further, it all just blows back up the pump and none goes into the tyre. Any suggestions for solving the problem?

The pump attachment onto the tube is possibly tending to hold open the valve insert, whether Schrader or Presta valves are fitted.

Try not putting the attachment as far onto the valve to see if that does the trick. If it's Presta valves, try without unscrewing the pin knurled nut so far out.

I use a Topeak Masterblaster Morph Road G. An amazing little pump but at £29.99 expensive. No problem with a 100 PSI and for such a small pump gets there surprisingly fast. Also has built in meter. It's sort of like a neat micro track pump you can put on your bike. I bought it on recommendation from my LBS. Definately recommended by me:)

Presta/Schader valve
Butted Aluminium Barrel
In line guage reads to 140 PSI
Thumb lock lever
Ergo fit Padded T Handle
Fold out foot pad
Max 160PSI
Weight 220g

Thank you Barnowl. Flecc's suggestion didn't altgether solve my problem so thinking that it would be a good idea anyway to have a pump I can take on the bike ( too obvious really!) I got a very similar Topeak pump from Wiggle (usual faultless service and free delivery). As you say it does the job surprisingly easily for such a small pump. 80 psi - no bother - so I now join you in recommending these to any forum member
