Snag is that the waxy solid particulate is only an inactive part of the compound electrolyte. Since it's quantity has to be substantial to protect all parts as described, this will mean a large increase in battery size or corresponding drop in capacity for a given battery purpose.

This is similar to the disadvantage of the SCiB fast charging batteries.
