My Mrs has had the 2012 c8. (Pre impulse Panasonic 18ah) cycled over 1000 miles since new.
We are both experience ebikers.
Some recent health issues mean she could do with some more grunt against head winds and up hills.
Her Machine is well maintained chain always lubed up tyres firm etc.
Does any one know of any soup up kits / gizmo etc for the c8 please?

  • Firmware upgrade
  • Change to occasional throttle
  • Ideas welcome

There is no way to get more grunt by such methods, the circuit board is heavily encapsulated and glued into the r/h crankcase so very little chance of alteration. The motor itself is very small anyway so has some physical limitations.

There is just one way if you are competent to remove and strip open the unit, but I can give no guarantee how much that might shorten the life of the system, and it will of course invalidate any last scrap of warranty and also reduce the range considerably.

The details are on my Panasonic support website and are detailed on this link under the heading 26 volt new units.

It entails binding wire across the uprights of a shunt to reduce it's resistance. This can slightly more than double the thrust power on individual pedal strokes but inevitably means somewhat less smooth running. Personally I don't like the way it runs then.

I stress this has to be done entirely at your own risk, I can't be held responsible for any adverse outcome or loss of unit life.

Thanks for your prompt comprehensive advice flecc.
I looked at your Panasonic advice site , such a modification would be high risk on what otherwise is a perfectly good ebike.
We may have to consider buying a cheaper ( now retired) new ebike .
Would need more powers but similar in spec to the Agattu c8 for range geometry & comfort.
We will have to do much research on the forum.

You could always stick a front wheel kit on the Agattu - That'd certainly give it a boost

That's probably the easiest solution, ut costs about £400. A nice Q75 or Q85 with a bottle battery should do it.
