Been meaning to post some pictures of my re-working of my EMoulton TSR2

What you are looking at above is the completed bike ready to go with battery. Weight 14.5kgs.

It uses the latest small controller I got recently with my Tongxins and my new £20 battery all in the bag.

The battery 36v, 1.1Ah. A123s 12s1p. Shown side by side with its bigger brother 2.3Ah battery.

You may notice this new build has a radial built front wheel. I have done a couple now after advice from Alan/catsnapper (many thanks to him). They look wonderful even if they do have limited application.

I have also managed to get some decent spacers. These are machined out of plastic (drenalin) and are required to space the narrow Tongxin 83mm motor away from the suspension. Different sized ones are required either side to center the wheel in the front forks. Much better than four or five washers.

I have using the bike this week during the wonderful weather. I use around 600mAh to work, recharge and use about 300mAh on the way home of my 10.25mile round trip.

A reminder of how it stores in my office. This is an older picture when I was using a larger setup.

Its really for sunny days and whilst not as portable as my Brompton, it is faster and a much smoother ride.

Regards

Jerry

Very slick build Jerry.
If your only using 1.1amp batteries what c rating are they to be useable with the controller.

Thanks for the comments.

They are 30c constant and 60c peak. All in my battery build thread.

The controller only pulls 12 amps max anyway.

Looks fab anyway jerry really nice finished bikes.
I would imagine it wouldn't feel to dis similar to just the bike without the electric kit.
Least you have a smoother take off and hill climbing without issue.

Yes Scotty its probably as close as I can get to no electric fit.

As you say the real advantage is to help with take offs and cope with the few inclines (railway bridge) that we have in Cambridge. I doubt the battery would suit many UK landscapes but fine for Cambridge. There is a fitting on the front where the rucksack goes and I can pop a larger battery in there with a power lead running to that little frame bag, if I need more capacity for longer/steeper rides.

The moulton doesn't seem to fold very wheel in your desk. No bikes compare to brompton for folding size... such a shame ;)

Your torque arm (on the Moulton) seems quite clean. Is it a bespoke one?

To be pedantic the Moulton does not fold, it splits. As always its a compromise. The Brompton folds small and conveniently, the Moulton rides like a dream :p

That is not a torque arm its known as a leading link which is part of the suspension. As this is only a 180W motor and the front forks are steel, I am confident that a torque arm is not required, (he says sucking in breadth lol).
