Are We Running Out Of New And Original Topics?

Maybe it is a seasonal thing, but new and original threads seem to be thin on the ground at the moment and people seem to be getting on each others nerves. I have found Vikki's posts informative and entertaining, can we have some more like that please?

I would think only a small hard core amonst this group cycle through the depths of winter, so that may be why things get a bit slow. motorhome forums I use are similar in this regard.

have just bought a new bike for my wife when I get it next week will test and report (weather permitting:rolleyes: )

then again the subject matter is limited to a degree lol

It probably is seasonal - apart from people falling off on icy cycle tracks there's not much to relate. I'd like to do an in-depth review of my new Wisper, but I've hardly used it so far - two freezing Sunday afternoons which did NOT include this one where it has chucked it down all day hardly qualify.

I appreciate Flecc's efforts, and of course if you don't agree with anything he says (or maybe everything he says!) it seems to me that he's working hard to get some action going in here, and I suspect without him pushing a bit there would be nothing at all.

It's probably best to assume he's a skilled leg puller, and take it all in that spirit. I would never complain about that. This is a forum for discussion about anything connected - however loosely - with electric bikes, or transport in general, and nobody has to agree with anyone else's opinions. If you're chatting with people 'in person' and you don't agree with a viewpoint, body language usually saves you, not to mention the chance of a smack in the eye, but for some reason once you get an on-line discussion going people take everything terribly seriously.

It's not personal! YOU probably will never meet THEM, and THEY will probably never meet YOU.

Rog.

I think you may be on to something there John.

My thinking is that there is currently a huge data dump within the forum that folks can read whilst lurking. that coupled with well established brands that are currently in good supply seems to have also killed the consumerist angle too.

on the first issue, i'm sure new entrants to the marketplace will bring more topics and on the latter i notice 50c are taking pre orders for the 2009 range. surely it will only be a matter of time before that stimulates content.

Rog is very close to the mark, I do leg pull and have an active sense of humour.

Not only does the seasonal aspect affect the new thread introductions, our subject is a narrow one which easily runs out of new items.

John (Aldby) has notably tried hard of late to get new thread items into use, but it is difficult when things are flat off season.

Yet another reason for a lack of subjects is the recent very great improvement in customer relations and service support that suppliers are giving.

Back in 2007 and intruding into 2008, customer dissatisfaction gave rise to numerous threads, at times becoming even more irritating than the "H" word issue.

It's good that service has improved so much, but it's not much help in here.

That will be the Kalkhoff Pro Connect S, only a very limited supply available of that very high speed version, illegal on UK roads.

Not identical but similar are the BikeTech Flyer S models, so a ride on one of those will give a similar experience since they use the identical high speed version of the Panasonic motor. BikeTech were the first to create this high speed Panasonic system.

Vita Electric

(This agent's website is in a mess at the moment)

So how do they get around selling them if they are illegal,,do they have the good old de-restrict button ? Optibike supposedly re program theirs to your requirements....
I am sure most people would go for fast bikes like these even if it its just to get out in the country and put your foot down,,ok, i know, we've been there in recent threads...

There's no derestrict button, they are just fast. They can be sold here for use on private roads and land or in competition off road.

As for most people going for them, I'm not so sure:

Pro Connect S 50cm £2,195

BikeTech Flyer S from £2760 to £3890 depending on model.
