Ass-pushers. I _like_ it!

Cophenhagenize.com has poo-poo'ed electric bikes in a recent post, remembering some old names for mopeds. One of them was "røvskubbere" or "ass pushers". Now, I'm a fan of using a bit of humour as well as adopting 'hate speech' [1], and the phrase tickled me. To the point I might refer to mine as that on occasion.

I'd like to see the author bike daily up the road I have to go up to get home! (12 to 14% gradients...)

Its a pity we can't all be fashion vixens in our tweedy bikey ways, but I'll happily pootle around the hills of Dunedin in an "ass"isted fashion.

There is so much wrong with this article but comments like this:

"E-bikes have already been dubbed "Lazy Bikes"...."

shows it for the prejudice it is. The author apparently can't see the point of e-bikes. I guess however that he can see the point of bikes over the more environmentally friendly mode of transport called walking or running.

Yeah Lazy is a out of order. I can't see many people buy electric because they're lazy. If they were lazy they'd take the car or use a motorbike.

"ass pusher" applies to cars and motorbikes even better. Technically though pedal only bikes are ass pushers unless you're standing on the pedals. So does the term just refer to cycling uphill?

Many of the petrol add-on motors were over the back wheel just behind the saddle, hence "ass-pusher"
