I get a rough figure of 1 degree per watt for a downtube battery case in still air, which ties in with our estimates for 10A and 20A falling either side of 'probably OK' in heating terms.

Just want to add that it's NOT OK to simply replace a 4A fast charger with a 10A one because heating isn't the only issue.

Many of the typical BMSs that we have in our batteries have a maximum charge current of 5A. If you go above that, there's a chance that you can blow the charge MOSFET, which will then cancel all the charge controls.
