BBS01b my first 1100mile

Hi it's been a while since I posted on here due to the fact I spend far to much time rideing my bike lol.
It's been great and I would recommend the BBS01b system coupled with a fairly good battery it's been reliable and apart from me messing with the parameters on the laptop it's been great. I'm now running at 18amp with no proplems. no error messages or anything apart from a little bit heavier on the battery juice. It does get a bit warmer but that's to be expected. I'm still messing with the settings looking for that perfect setting same as us all I suspect..I'm still running 46teeth front chain ring which seems ok and I find I don't stall or load the motor too much with this setup it can go along very nicely at about 20mph..Now the this is where I need help CHAIN LUBE do we or don't we. I just give it a light lube every now and then and dry it off after. A nice thin oil ..can't stand all that black crap going everywhere..anyway am I right or wrong ..the chains done 1100 mies with no issues and was not new whe I converted the bike..

I jus use thin oil too.Read it makes for improved efficieny milage over a dry chain .Only thing ive got different to you is i put a precie alps narrow wide 42t on mine.Feels a lot better esp hills an low speed manouvering

Thanks yer I was going to buy a narrow wide I run 46 front. I suppose 42t give better range on hills. Sometimes I feel I'm forever changing gear going up hill and spend a lot of time on the biggest back cog.maybe a smaller front cog would stop me bogging down..but I do like a good top speed.

I find its perfectly good on my 17t- 19t going up hills, typicaly 12mph.U can peddle faster an the motors spinning fast.Only on very steep hills do i have to drop another to the 24t but still 9mph without straining the controller.I use Full throttle 18amp tho.Better pulling away ,slow peddling in higher gears,less gear changing all round needed.I can still reach 23 mph on the flat .

What motor are you using..sounds a good speed . Have you changed the parameters in the settings.

I've been upping the amps and experimenting with it for a while. I've ended with 80% keep current and upping from 15 to 18amps at the controller..I reckon it might go higher. It's rated at 20. But it seems happy at 18.. A little warmer if you load it too much. But the power is a bit brighter..
The 29er ain't happening as the nice guy didn't send it. So at the moment I'm enjoying 26" wheels. Have you still got that motor on yer bench.

yes the 350watt has to go as it is not going to be used it has only done 100 miles have a new project under way still awaiting delivery of special order parts how did you get to 18 amps without the error codes

To be honest I don't think there is a problem with this later type motor..the controller is fitted with better FETs I think they handle the heat better than the older type..the other thing could be the type of display your using depends on how it's set to trigger the error..I've put this motor through some serious workouts in the last few weeks.. And I mean stalling it and I've had no error code through heat buildup and believe me I've had it working so it should of got hot and stopped...but no it keeps going..maybe there harder than we think..let me know what you want for that motor...

How did you get to 18 amps and how is the 29er build going

Just the standard bbs01 350w its 18amp .The 250w is max 15amp.No programming.The 350w is 18-18.5amp on full throttle.I checked it with my watt meter.

Im waiting for some feedback on the bbshd before deciding.I dont want to find they drain a 17.5ah battery after 15 miles.Wish i could afford a 20+ ah batt

The 350 will go to 20 apparently I have not tried it personally I found 18 amps and 80% keep enough for most things.
my new offroad set up now peaks at considerably more [25amps in short bursts] after the laptop and it now actually stresses the big 36 volt battery now the keep current is at 80% I now get 1 to 2 hours play time at white knuckles speeds its funny how much faster it seems on dry mud or is it just getting older

Why use oil at all. I was using Scotoiler for cycles when they still sold kits. Now I rely on FS365 which can be sprayed or wiped on chain. It is water based so no muck builds up and easy to wash of hands.
