The way I see it, this forum is a pretty good users' association (though it can sometimes seem like a trade body :D ), full of impartial (mostly) opinions for anyone who cares to search the archive. You can also see the importance of it to the industry with regard to feedback by the number of BEBA members, and others in the industry who actively respond to user's concerns. I, like many others, have gained a lot of insight into the realm of ebikes, by simply scanning the posts on a regular basis, so I wonder if we actually need another forum/association/club?

I for one, don't need a special badge or membership card to make me feel part of a movement, in fact I think such things would be counterproductive, by allowing those opposed to change (in any form), or "alternative" transport to further stereotype and dismiss us as somehow radical. We should be seeking to normalise ebikes, rather than create further borders between us and everybody else IMO.

Gosh guys, just think that's not really ok but lets see how that goes
But as Flecc says, BEBA is young, formed by those in the industry to assist themselves. Those directors, I guess (being a director myself), are more concerned with marketing, advertising, selling, ordering, paperwork, personnel issues, legal issues, factory supplies, procurement, customer care, warranty issues, quality control, competition, accounts, accountants, raising revenue, stress, worry, people hassle, banks, bank managers, HMRC, VAT, input, output, invoicing, chasing debtors, payments on account, balancing the books, corporate house, paper returns, tax, import, export, late deliveries, requirements, design, wrong design, documentation, patents, wrong product, substandard manufacturer, negotiating prices, renegotiating prices, meetings, travel, family, having a life, more meetings, more travel, pensions, eurocrats, voting, answering daft Q's on pedelecs forum, leisure time and all the hundreds of other things that go into making running a business so er, enjoyable ?

I'd give em a chance to get it going, then complain :D

LOL - yup that sums it up.

Personally speaking I would like membership to be a tenner with a free ebike thrown in. Only kidding...

I'm not sure what BEBA could offer consumers, but I would be interested to hear what they are up to. Such as lobbying or setting standards within the industry (interchangeable batteries anyone?). That would only need be a mailing list...

I'm afraid I fail to see what benefit I would get from being a member, if BEBA wish to arrange publicity events then they won't want to restrict it to BEBA members.
