Hi All

I have a ni-mh 24v battery pack , after the charge i go on my bike and as soon as i hit a slight hill it flashes empty , and sometimes cuts off , then i have to turn the key on and off to get it kicking back in , i originally thought it was the pack so i purchased new batteries and made an identical pack left it charging for 12 hour and tried it, the exact same problem is happening , could someone point me in the right direction to the problem ,, not sure if the charger is knackered or the control unit faulty..

thanks in advance

Rob

Yes, it's definitely the low voltage cutout operating, maybe a problem with one of the new cells you fitted. It's important that they all match, just one low one and you'll get this problem.

I assume your using the same make cells as the original battery was supplied with. Different makes vary greatly in their ability to provide power.

Is it possible your original battery is nearing the end of its useful life and the new cells[if not the same] aren't up to the job? The result would be similar.

If you have access to 2 x sla batteries wired in series to test bike, it may confirm battery is not at fault and you can look elssewhere for the problem.

I see no reason why not. Although deep cycle ones would be best, any should do for the sake of this test, providing their of suitable Amp rating.

yes you could run it on two deep cycle sla batteries. get 10amp or higher (the higher the amps the more the range ) any sla batteries will do to test it inc. car batteries.

Hi

Back again i got hold of 2 12v 12ah sla batteries and made sure they were fully charged attached them and the empty light still seems come on just gently holding the bike with throttle on , and it also did cut out again , Maybe the brushless motor controller ?

thanks
