I am increasing the gearing on my Brompton M3l as it is too low with my electric conversion, cadence is too high.

I have ordered a 54 tooth chainring and 100 link chain. According to the Brompton website I can also go from 13T to 12T on the rear sprocket with the 100L chain:

http://www.brompton.co.uk/extranet/downloads/Q_Parts_pdf/ds-chain.pdf

I cannot for the life of me find a 1/8" 12T rear sprocket anywhere....

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Ben

Benjy_a,

12T sprockets will only fit single speed and the new Brompton Wide Ratio hubs.

I would buy a new 13T sprocket and see how you get on with that first.

All the new parts should be 3/32".

The 54T Chainset should solve your cadence problems unless you intend to exceed 15mph dramatically.

Ah ok thanks....I thought I could use the 54T 3/32 chaining with 1/8 chain and existing rear sprocket? I'm guessing from your post that that is not the case?

Thanks Jerry,

Been reading a bit and it seems that it will be fine to keep my 1/8" components with the 3/32" chaining.
