Hi there

I recently bought a new battery for my bike but it has a different connector

No problem - I can easily make a patch (kettle to xlr)

Problem is i both butchered the original charger and also no longer have easy access to the old battery

This means I have no idea pin is positive and which negative on the bikes power in cable

I'd hate to plug the battery in reversed polarity and fry the controller

If you have one if these bikes and a
Mulitmeter I'd be most grateful to know which pin is positive and negative on you battery

Thanks
Kirstin

Can't you use your own meter? I wouldn't go by how anybody elses is because our Chinese friends often change things round.

Put your meter on beep, then probe between the red controller connection and the end of the battery lead. The one that beeps is the positive. QED. I would have thought that a clever guy like your would have figured that out, so I've missed something, haven't I?

I have learnt not to trust the colour coding of Chinese wiring !!

I had presumed there was a better chance that the batteries and chargers on all mistrals matched up (as opposed to all red and black colour coding being correct)

I think that just confirms that the wire has no break in it, doesn't it ? It doesn't confirm polarity

In your test the actual polarity you are taking from the wire being red in colour (I think)

I recall when I tried to fix the old battery that red and black wires were mixed up in the top section (ie key, fuse and socket)

Hence my reluctance

Controller wires are always red for positive, black negative. I've never known that get mixed up.

Well I've stopped for a beer on the beach 5 miles into my second test drive. My lunchtime was just 2.5miles test - all good. No more than normal feeling voltage sag on hills. Assists all the way to about 17mph or about 19mph on throttle ( says Strava )

Will test the battery till it conks out

But so far - for a grand total of175 for bike, battery, charger and a few sundries it's a lot of ebike

After 7.5 miles I had to go home but after 2 hour rest (I forgot when I got in) battery still reads 40.1v
