I own a Ford Ka and i can take it to any garage in my town and get it fixed,i also own a Piaggio 50cc scooter, again i can take it to my local motorcycle/scooter dealer and get it serviced etc,the push bike i can fix myself, but if needed there are 5 cycle shops in town, but e. bikes the story is different, there is nowhere in my town of Shrewsbury where i can go for advice, spares or servicing.Halfords is about as close as it gets to sales and service of e.bikes,so,until this situation improves i realy cant see a future for e.bikes outside the larger cities. My humble first e.bike is powered by SLA batteries which i have just renewed for £65 which is ok,but the newer generation of batteries run into 100s of £s,these sort of prices will keep my car and scooter ticking over for a while on the sort of milages i do.All this is a great shame, because i enjoyed cycling when i was younger but now i am older i enjoy e.biking even more, get battery prices down and more dealers and i think there will be an explosion in e.bike ownership.
