i think the bottom bracket ring as you say is seized...i can see rust on the torque sensor metal bracket the one which holds the sensor in position.

So am I right to think the micro controller is the part on a battery or battery charger that is coded and communicating with each other and the main controller?

It’s new I could do a bit cheaper from e bay price say £80.00 they cost minimum of £120.00 .
If it would do you for power in your shed , not sure how worthwhile 1 X 450 W solar would be I was thinking of putting a 36 V led lights in my shed run from salvaged batteries or just for charging batteries or both .

Just do not have time to mess with it at the moment .

Thanks I was thinking more along the lines of building a large 36V battery out of that plastic system on e bay from a number of scrap batteries or just using the spare packs I have .

Use the 36 v battery just for light at night does not have to be 36 V could be 12 or 24 depending on which LEDs are used , just thought to use 36 as the battery packs are already 36v.

The Enphase Micro inverter brings down the voltage at the panel to 240V AC then just use a standard battery charger to charge the battery so just have a 240V socket in the shed then all the power tools and battery garden tools could be powered from Solar .

At the moment I do not have the time so the inverter is for sale on e bay .

Hello Baz.....The microcontroller has inputs and outputs...like for say the pulses it sends to the hall effect sensors in the motor and then the pulses are sent back to the micro controller which decides if all the pulses are correct otherwise the controller will send out an error signal to the LCD display...which is only function of many. The inverter im not in need of as ive repaired the one ive got and have another as a spare...going to the bike shop soon to get the bottom bracket ring undone if they can move it !!! david

So on the Carrera STL battery BSM in the photo,s if you could change the Microinverter that allows the battery to charge to one that does not have a code if this can be done could you then just change the controller to a standard one then I think the original charger should still work or change that as well to a standard e bike charger.
If this would work then the battery could be saved and used .
Obviously One would also match the LCD and the PAS to the new controller.

Verses changing the BSM to the Hailong one change the other components as above .
Up grade the battery with input and out put fuses .
If the current on and off PCB can not be used install a different one .

I am not going to do this it’s just out of interest but I am going to look at changing the BMS systems in the later batteries so perfectly good Samsung Battery packs do not need to be scrapped.

Thats what the man at the bike shop said that he uses a long bar to create leverage....but i have not a bar like that...i work in the living room which is not very nice as living in a small flat !!! i really wish i had a house and i would build a proper work shop to fix my bikes.

Lock up garage that you could in time get a solar system for lights and battery power , have a look round or see if the council have any cheap garage s to let

Finally got round to going into this Carrera LCD the one from the latest Crossfires .
Two wires had detached from the PCB.

It’s only for my use to use on my bench testing set up . It’s not in the best condition

Is it ok just to fill it back in with silicone or plastic bumper upol filler ie it will coat the PCB just to seal it back up ?
Or might it over heat .

Less work than trying to cut a new piece of plastic then trying to attach it

There's no real heat in there, so should be OK. I think those LCDs come apart if you heat them up a bit to melt the glue, like you do with most phones these days.

Oh ok thanks I have a new small one that is broke it was stuck on walk assist when I get some time I will try a heated up stanly blade to try prize it apart .

Hello Baz.....I have now fixed the bottom bracket into the latest frame....im a bit fed up as i bought some secondhand clarkes clout brakes and i think they are not suitable for the vul can....the brakes that came with the other frame are the original vulcan e brakes but the brake levers have been cut short and need replacement levers...i was hoping to take the levers of the clout brakes but not compatable...also both sets of brakes are not working correctly and maybe need refilling with hydrulic fluid which is something ive never done and the shop want about £25 to do the job...sometimes i feel i should have just made do with the 22" frame vulcan....instead of keep spending on another bike..

When i was talking before about microprocessors in the controller i got a bit confused...the micro processor does not produce the pulses that go to the motor pcb...the pulses are produced from the motor pcb and then fed to the microprocessor...just thought i would correct my error, im get ting old and not thinking correctly sometimes !!!
