My hubby has a Thompson K2 Style electric bike, and after spell of not using, put on charge for a trip out last weekend. Charger showed red light when plugged in, so left to do its thing, came back a few hours later, light was out so thought all was good. When he fitted battery to bike, it initially showed full charge on meter, but power went down almost instantly until it was almost flat.
He then remembered that charger is actually supposed to show a green light when charging done, so the fact that light went out completely maybe means charger has blown, so didn't actually juice the battery at all. We plugged battery in to charge again, and now no lights on charger come on at all.
I have done a search online and cannot find anything like the charger we have. Its a Shenzen ABT Co Ltd, Model 3PX0-N7030, 24v 1.8A for NIMH batteries, so a direct replacement looks unlikely. Contacted Thompson, and even though they still sell a remarkably similar bike now, they advised the batteries are not compatible. Going to dig out voltmeter tomorrow to see if there is any life in the charger, but if there isn't, where do we go from here? Or if it isn't actually the charger, would a duff battery cause the charger lights not to work? Bike is in really good nick, so too good to scrap. Any advice much appreciated, thank you
