Any display in most cases has to be compatible with controller brand, one can't just throw any thing together.

Thanks pal your advice is invaluable as always when you said see if I get any voltage between blue and ground do you mean on the display wires or the power side and what should the voltage be please

Voltage on the power side, as long as it has voltage it doesn't matter. The Red as we know will be battery voltage, the blue is return voltage from the display.

Hi neath I havnt had chance to do it yet as I’m having problems with my battery when I charge it up it’s only saying the lower reading in the pic with the key turned of but if I turn the key on I get the higher reading have you any idea why this could be like it is

The key must be wired to switch and turns the BMS on/off, that's why you get a low reading when off and 28v for a 24v nominal battery when on.
When charging one should have the key on so the BMS is switched on properly.

I have BMS with push button switch and they do the same. If switch is off one gets a silly low reading.
I'm not 100% sure but think if the BMS has a switch and it is off during charging the BMS may not balance properly.

Thanks Neath so are you saying that the battery is ok then as I was thinking it was faulty and was going to get another one

It appears normal to me, other wise no point in having the switch if it doesn't do anything.
My batteries with no switch show the SOC voltage at the discharge all the time, the one with a switch don't. It is only when the switch is on do they show the SOC voltage, the switch on mine simply switch the BMS on/off.

thank you so much thats put my mind at rest now what does soc mean is it state of charge voltage

SOC yes, State of Charge.
