cheaper replacement batteries

Hi Ya'll,

i'm a Noob so don't really know if this is a really stupid question or not:

is there anywhere i can buy replacement NIMH batteries for my Heinzmann estelle sport 36V bike for less than the cost of a new Ferrari?

or is there somewhere that makes batteries to the same sort of spec/voltage as the heinzmann NIMH ones i have that died after 15 months of my daily 20 mile journey?

Welcome to the forum Antonius.

Probably not I'm afraid. The D size NiMh high discharge cells that the manufacturers need have got increasingly scarce as lithium battery types take over the e-bike market, and those remaining are very expensive.

If you are prepared to make up your own batteries using the newest lithium-iron types that might be a little cheaper, but that depends on how much those NiMh batteries of yours cost. How much was that, and where are you being quoted?
