Hi all 2 years ago I bought a cheap Chinese e-bike off of eBay, since then I've bought a wisper 905se sport, sold the Chinese bike to a friend who now relies on it, it was stolen a couple of weeks ago, my friend found and retrieved it, but the scallywags have ripped out the ignition barrel , he has tried to use a Phillips head screwdriver to get it to go but this is not a great solution, anyone out there with any suggestions please?

It looks as though the switch may be in the battery housing, is that the case?

The switch needed is normally a single pole one that just switches the positive wire from the battery to the controller, but it has to carry a large current.

Similar switches are fairly standard and used by other makes. Have a look at the lower left of this photo and see if the switch here matches yours in appearance. If so, that can be bought as a spare with keys from eZee e-bike distributor Onbike. You or your friend could probably adapt the mounting if necessary to fit, or take out just the switch barrel and body to mount that.

Hello flecc
Sorry information from me must be like pulling teeth, not used to forums. anyway, no, the key housing was on top of the right front fork, I appreciate your kind attentions and time you are taking on my behalf, cheers

That is neat but unusual. If the standard lock barrel and switch I mentioned isn't suitable, the only thing I can suggest is to stop using it and rewire using a locking switch like the one I suggested elsewhere on the bike.

thanks flecc,
I phoned onbike this morning, and the very nice chap agreed with you about trying an eezebike lock which I have purchased from him, I'm off on holiday on Friday so won't be able to do anything for a couple of weeks, but as soon as I get back I'll try it, and post the results, once again, thanks for your interest

A pleasure Marco, hope you have a great holiday and I look forward to hearing how you get on with that lock.

Bike now a goer

Here's an update on the Chinese e-bike that was stolen and vandalised, first, I had to file the switch down to fit inside the fork, and hard wire it to the existing wiring, then discovered that the little beggars who stole the bike had knackered the twist grip, I had to hunt around the web for a replacement, and found a company in hong kong who supply grips for Chinese bikes, fitted that, problem was, old grip had about 12 wires coming out, new grip had only 3. By process of elimination I managed to track down the right ones, I used bullet connectors, then electrical taped everything up, fired the bike up and everything worked a dream, wheew! Thanks to everyone for their interest

Well done Marco, as you found, only the 3 throttle wires for the Hall sensor matter. Hopefully you'll get plenty of uninterrupted enjoyment from it now.
