Bit early. Never mind. Thought this up last night when I couldn't get to sleep.

Best entry will get a nice bottle of something from me but not til January when I come back from holiday.

T'was just before Christmas
The weather was bracing
The elves at the Grotto
Were round-the-clock racing

With sleighs to get ready
And presents to wrap
There was no chance of tea breaks
Or even a nap

Suddenly Santa
(Who's always so cheerful)
Came in from the snow
Looking terribly tearful

'I've just had some news
Which you're not going to like.
The reindeers have told me
They're going on strike!

The union told them
To put up a fight
For quadruple pay
When they're riding at night!'

The elves were all outraged
Then started to cry
As Santa slumped into his chair
With a sigh.

But up spoke young Horace
An elf small and wise.
'We shall not be beaten
By such a surprise!

I've seen something lately
I think you will like.
Santa, we'll get you
An electric bike!'

They all trawled the Elfnet
Deep into the night
With hundreds to choose from
Which one would be right?

(Santa was 'portly',
With arthritic knees,
Getting him skybound
Would not be a breeze)

At long last they found one
A nice step through model
With powerful motor
And also a throttle

Curved 'sit-up' handlebars
(perfect in style)
And large juicy battery
For many a mile.

He tried it, he loved it
And later that night
He soared to the stars
With a whoop of delight.

Over to you........!

The reindeers have told me
They're going on strike!
Females striking to hurt children Hatti! That woud surely never happen.

Yes that's right, all Santa's reindeer are female, led by Rebecca the red nose reindeer.

How do I know?

Well, all male reindeer lose their antlers by the end of November latest, but the females keep them longer, presumably to defend their young who are born shortly after Christmas.
