Putting it behind the paywall is great shame as I gather they have around 100,000 subscribers. How many of those are cyclists (maybe 15%?) How many are cyclists who will get involved and contribute? Maybe 20% of the 15%?

numbers crunched = 1,500

The true number is so much bigger. Around 16% of 48m adults in the uk say cycling is an important form of transport to them (so thats 7.68m people). If 20% of those contributed then that is 1,536,000 people !! It goes to the core of how valuable this excercise could be if they set it up outside a paywall. Seems to me to be a huge waste of momentum here - their campaign does otherwise appear to be gaining some traction

The Times campaign has certainly been grabbing others attention with many media mentions.

Latest is today's BBC London News, which had a spokesperson for a London hospital which gets London's injured cyclists in frequently. They are studying the situation to see what contribution they can make to cycling safety.

This item will almost certainly be repeated for those in the London viewing area on the 6.30 pm BBC 1 London news this evening.
