Hi there. I’m looking for advice or help on choosing a kit/components to convert my aluminium hard tail mtb with 26” wheels. The bike weights 14kgs and I am 76kgs.
It would be mainly used for a 40km(total) commute here on the relatively flat roads in the south of Spain. However, there is a 14km trip that I like to take once a week. 7kms of that is moderate climbing but the other 7kms has ramps of up to 13%. Unfortunately, these days due to getting on in years, I come back from this trip pretty tired.
I was thinking of a battery pack with integrated controller, lcd display, thumb accelerator and pas.
Would a rear hub motor be best? If so, what power rating? It’s a 7 speed bike that I have.
Any advice or links to kits/components would be gratefully appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Hola!

I have one of their kits - Mxus motor and if you have a 7 speed then the freewheel version will be OK and you need a DNP 11-32 freewheel to go with the motor. We weigh the same and 13% is not an issue.

You might need a torque arm (or two) depending on the thickness of your dropouts. You don't need to buy the brake levers, no need with this kit.

Thanks for your reply. It looks ideal but maybe a little expensive by the time all the other components are added.

What would you think of these?

Including shipping €615. Not sure if I have to pay any taxes after that.

Looking for advice on the above combination please.
Motor is 36v 201rpm. Battery is 48v.
Is it ok to run 36v motor with 48v battery?
Thanks.

Answer is yes, however their is another complication.

The 201 rpm if the winding was true should run at 15/16mph @36v but it doesn't, every one who has tried one has found out they top out at 19/20 mph so winding is actually 260rpm. Over volting with 48v will increase rpm to 325rpm making it top out about 25mph. Good for flat faster riding , but will make it inefficient for hill climbing unless you can maintain a very high speed.
For 48v order the 201/48v model for a 260rpm winding that is good for 20/21 mph and better for hills.

Thanks very much Nealh. Your advice is greatly appreciated.
Hills are where I need the most help.
