Convert A Thumb To Half Twist

I found this on endless and does it make sense or not?

Cut a piece of 1" pvc pipe about an inch or inch and a half long. Glue to the throttle. Use pvc cement sparingly, so you don't glue the throttle so it can't rotate. That's it. If you have some old shifter parts laying around, the inner part of the grip shifter makes a nice sleeve to go between the bars and the pipe. If not, just a scrap of flat thin plastic will do. The pipe is just slightly oversize.

It sounds more like a modification to a twist throttle, possibly to full width, rather than converting a thumb throttle. Doesn't seem to make a lot of sense without knowing the context.

Nope its definatly converting a snapped off thumb throttle to a half twist throttle
and like it says you have to glue a piece of pipe onto the thumb throttle bit and let it set
and maybe put some rubber tube around it!
I dont think it would work in every case and mine is very wide and not an easy conversion :(
