Hi, Thought we should have a thread to gather sales pitches. Be interesting to see what other people are doing, writing or saying .. (I hope we got some proper salesmen out there as I'm making it up as I go along and I could use some salesman training or at least some hints and tips! ... )

Just wrote this is an email to my brother:

The charge point provides whatever charging service they like. A basic service would entail taking the battery and charger off the ebiker and charge the battery while the ebiker goes off with his battery-less bike and does something else. (This is something that the butcher would do). The minimum that the butcher gets out it is the advertising via CycleCharge.org.uk. The most he can hope for is the purchase of a pork pie or a hot pasty but this is not guaranteed or written into any agreement. i.e this is free service. In reality I would expect a pork pie or pasty to be purchased. Ebikers need charge points and want them to be successful so are more than likely to buy something to show their support ..

My suggestion:

"Charge Point is a revolutionary scheme, in place to help shift towards a cleaner commute. Charge Point providers will benefit from a FREE listing on: CycleCharge - The UK's E-Bike Battery Charging Scheme and increased custom from e-bikers visiting their premises. The cost to the provider is minimal, all advertising materials will be provided free of charge and the cost of charging a battery for an hour is typically no more than 2 pence. This is a fantastic opportunity to put your business on the map in supporting the electric vehicle evolution"

Then you pick yourself up from the pavement outside, dust yourself off, straighten tie and comb hair, then try next door. :)

I do wear a tie but only to keep my trousers from falling down! .... and I never use a comb. I'm a fingers through the hair man .... this helps to give me that mad professor look ...

Re: increased custom from e-bikers visiting their premises ..my current sales pitch sometimes includes the line "I'd be very surprised if anyone actual contacts you ..." this was said to "the butcher" and he still registered! ...

HINTS and TIPS:
When I go to a place I always position the bike at the entrance with the sign in full view. This attracted interest outside 4 of the 6 places I visited on the weekend.

I can see your point, but I think people will automatically assume that, I think we have to sell it in as positive a manner as possible. Worst case scenario is they have no-one, but at least they've had a listing online!

Yes. I think the butcher was worried that he was going to have a shop full of ebikers! ... what I should have said was that he was in control. i.e. no cold calling by ebikers. He can decide on how he can be contacted and to provide whatever service he wants to. If he's already booked then he can decline the service ...
